Game Overview
PG Soft is short for “Pocket Games Software”, which makes a lot of sense when you fire up any of their online slots – their games have obviously been designed with mobile players in mind, so if you are playing on desktop you will have to put up with a very thin and tall game that looks like it belongs on a smartphone. I can put up with that as long as the game is good, and Opera Dynasty appears very interesting upon first glance. The game has an RTP of 96.75%, up to 32,400 pay ways, and a maximum win of 3,000x your stake.
Opera Dynasty video slot includes silver-framed symbols which can transform into other randomly selected gold-framed symbols when they form part of a win. If those new gold-framed symbols also end up being part of a winning combination, 2 to 4 wild symbols will be added to the reels. A red flag modifier randomly removes all royal symbols from the reels whilst the blue flag modifier adds 3 to 5 wild symbols to the reels before they stop spinning. Both of these modifiers have added twists during the free spin bonus round, making them much more valuable in that part of the game.

Opera Dynasty Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I initially thought this was another grid slot similar to Majestic Treasures, another PG Soft title that I have been looking at today, but that is not the case. This is a traditional style online slot that uses a random-height symbol feature very much like BTG’s patented Megaways mechanic. I don’t agree with patenting slot mechanics, but what’s done is done and I do wonder if BTG will come knocking over the design of this slot. The symbols all have a cartoony Far Eastern look to them which is quite unique and unlike anything I recall seeing before.
Neither the scatter nor wild symbols have any payouts of their own, so the top paying symbol is the girl with the extremely ornate headdress at 150x for six-of-a-kind. You may want to have a look at the paytable yourself, as the second-highest paying symbol looks very similar but only returns 80x for all six. The ladies are followed by a selection of masks that pay 60x, 30x, and 15x your stake for six-of-a-kind.
Choosing your wager works in the same way as most other PG Soft games. Open the Bet Options page and choose a bet size on the left – there are only three options between €0.01 and €0.10, but a bet level selector allows you to multiply these bets by any amount between 1 and 10. Bottom line – the minimum bet per spin is €0.20 and the maximum is set at €20.00 per spin. That’s much more sensible than the last PG Soft game I looked at which allowed bets of up to €200.00 per spin!
Base Game & Modifiers
Base gameplay will feel instantly familiar to anybody who has ever played a Megaways slot, but the setup is not quite identical. Yes, the game uses six reels with random height symbols, but it appears each reel can only contain a maximum of five symbols. The four centre reels also have an additional spot located above the main reel area, which increases the total number of symbols on those reels to six. I multiplied those possibilities together and got a figure of 32,400, which matches the maximum number of pay ways that PG Soft advertises, which confirms that the main reel area does indeed only divide into a maximum of five spots per reel.
Silver Frame Feature
During any spin, some symbols may appear surrounded by a silver frame. Any silver-framed symbols that form part of a winning combination will all transform into a matching paid symbol after your previous win has been removed from the reels. These new symbols will also feature a gold frame.
Gold Frame Feature
Gold framed symbols can only be earned by hitting wins that include symbols with a silver frame. When gold-framed symbols form part of a winning combination they will transform into 2-4 wild symbols after your win has been awarded. If you have several gold-framed symbols as part of a winning combination it is possible to get a ton of wilds via this feature, more or less ensuring a big win.
Red Flag Feature
This modifier will activate at random during the base game as soon as the reels begin to spin. A red flag will wave across the reels, and all of the low-paying symbols will be removed from the reels. This can be a very useful feature although seven picture symbols will remain in play, some of which pay little more than the royal symbols which have been removed. This feature is a little bit hit and miss overall.
Blue Flag Feature
The blue flag modifier activates in the same way as the red flag mod, however, this feature will add three to five wild symbols in random positions which will be added to the reels before they stop spinning. Five wilds can make a big difference and make it much easier to hit those all-important six-of-a-kind winning combinations.
Opera Dynasty Slot Free Spins Feature
You’ll need to hit four scatter symbols to trigger the free spin bonus in the Opera Dynasty video slot, and whilst there is no payout for hitting any number of scatters, you do receive some extra free spins if you manage to hit a five or six scatter trigger. This effectively means you can win 8, 10, or 12 free spins.
During free spins, two new symbols are added to the reels; the new symbols represent the red flag and blue flag features, and any time one appears the respective modifier will be activated on your next spin. Additionally, one extra free spin will be awarded for every red or blue flag symbol that appears on the reels during your bonus round.
The red flag and blue flag features also come with a 2x multiplier during free spins, making them even more valuable than they are during the base game. Furthermore, each cascading win achieved during these features in the bonus round will increase the multiplier further by another 2x, up to a maximum of 10x.
Opera Dynasty Slot Review Final Thoughts
I’d grown tired of Megaways slots not long ago, but I seem to have a renewed enthusiasm for them recently. This may not be a Megaways slot by name, but it plays almost identically to one – is that a good thing? I suspect there are lots of players out there who would say yes. For me, PG Soft have done well here and created a fun game with lots of interesting features and modifiers. This is the kind of slot you could play for hours without getting bored, and that is a good thing for certain.
