Game Overview

Admittedly, it must be challenging to come up with new slot themes when just about everything has been covered before, but I cannot imagine many slot fans suddenly deciding they want to play a slot themed on a Panda bear. Despite that, there are quite a few Panda-themed slots doing the rounds, and today, I have another for you, this time from Big Time Gaming. Panda Money Megaways is a 6-reel slot with up to 15,626 ways to win, a max win of 67,330x, and a return-to-player of 96.10%.

The latest addition to the Aussie-based software provider slot portfolio follows their release of Christmas Catch Megaways and debuts a brand new Prize Builder feature, which keeps winning symbols on the reels as all other positions are given a re-spin. There’s also a free spins bonus with an unlimited win multiplier that you can trigger naturally, buy directly via a buy bonus, or exchange your winnings for a chance of triggering.

Whether you’re a Big Time Gaming fan, somebody who adores Panda’s, or just want to see what this new Prize Builder feature is all about, check out the free-to-play Panda Money Megaways slot demo below to see what this slot offers!

Panda Money Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Panda Money Slot Paytable

If you enjoy a Panda theme, I can tell you now that there are numerous other titles themed on these black and white, cute-looking but very ferocious animals. One I’d recommend you check out is Slotmill’s Cash Pandas, a slot that really demonstrates how far the developer has come in a relatively short amount of time. Big Bamboo from Push Gaming is another I’d have no issue recommending, particularly because it has a whopping 50,000x max win. However, with up to 67,330x possible, Panda Money Megaways actually tops that max win, although I am highly dubious we’ll ever get to see it. Anyway, that brings me nicely onto the payouts you can spin for on this latest BTG slot.

Sitting at the top of the paytable is the Lotus Flower, which pays 1x the stake for a 6-symbol combination. Next, it’s a big downgrade to the Koi Fish, paying 0.4x for a completed line of six. The Butterfly and Ring symbols complete the premium paying section, sharing equal payouts of 0.3x for a full line of six. Delivering the smaller payouts are the usual industry standard royals, with the Ace, King, and Queen returning 0.25x, and the Jack, Ten, and Nine all valued at 0.2x for a winning combo of six. The slot also features Wild symbols, which can only land on the 4-position horizontal reel above the reels and will substitute for all symbols except the scatter. The wild can fall onto the main reels as part of the Prize Builder Feature.

Finalising this section, we come to the betting options available on Panda Money Megaways. The low rollers amongst you will be pleased to see the minimum price to play is just €0.20, with high rollers also able to play up to a juicy €20 a spin. As standard with BTG, there are plenty of options within the min/max range, ensuring all players of the game will find a suitable stake to spin at.

Panda Money Slot Base Game

As the title suggests, the Megaways mechanic returns, allowing all reels, including the horizontal reel above the main reels, to hold between 2 and 5 symbols. If all reels have five symbols, that creates a maximum of 15,625 ways to win for you to land winning combinations. Players will be awarded a win when at least three matching symbols (two for the Lotus Flower) land on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost reel.

Prize Builder

While the Megaways mechanic will always pull in the punters, it is the debut of Big Time Gaming’s new Prize Builder feature, which is the main focus of Panda Money Megaways. This innovative feature plays a massive part in both the base game and the free spins bonus and works like this.

Each time a winning combination is created, the winning symbols fall to the bottom of their reels. If any of those symbols are on the horizontal reel above the reels, they will also drop to the bottom of the main reels if possible. All other symbols will re-spin, which could improve winning combinations on the reels. Each time a win is improved, another re-spin occurs. This continues until a re-spin does not improve a winning combination.

Panda Money Slot Bonus Features

Panda Money Slot Free Spins Feature

When the free spins bonus triggers, you’ll receive 8 free spins for the three scatters required to trigger the feature and another 2 free spins for each additional scatter on the triggering spin.

Free Spins Feature

The free spins bonus round includes an unlimited win multiplier that starts at 1x. That multiplier will increase as Bamboo symbols are collected by the Panda sitting beside the reels. Those symbols can appear when symbols are removed as part of the Prize Builder feature. The multiplier will increase by 1x each time 5 Bamboo symbols are collected. Finally, it’s possible to trigger 3 additional spins if you land 3 scatter symbols on a spin, while you’ll also receive another 2 free spins for each additional scatter symbol on top.

Win Exchange & Bonus Buy

If a winning combination is worth 25x to 100x the stake, you can exchange that win for a chance at triggering the free spins bonus, whilst all wins over 100x can be instantly exchanged for the feature. If you’d rather not gamble, you can just buy the feature, which costs 100x the current spin bet.

Pros

  • The prize builder is present in the base game and free spins feature.

Cons

  • The theme is lacklustre and unoriginal.
  • Unlikely to ever see a max win.
  • The base game pays very little.

Panda Money Slot Review Final Thoughts

Although only a small sample size, my initial gameplay on Panda Money Megaways began with 21 dead spins. Not a great start, but it is a high volatility slot, so these things can happen, but still. Finally, I got a win, and the prize builder feature kicked in. This seemed to go on for what felt like an eternity, and what did I win? A massive 4.8x for all the spinning reels, flashing lights, and sound effects; hmm, maybe the free spins feature would redeem the game. The first time around, the bonus paid 1.1x, the next feature was around 8x, and finally, I got one that paid just over 20x, so not great on that front either, but again, high volatility and small sample size have to be taken into account.Taking everything into consideration, I've concluded, for myself at least; this is a dud from BTG. The base game wins are so small that without a win multiplier involved, your balance isn't likely to last long enough for the 300+ spins it typically takes to trigger a feature on a BTG slot. Even if you do make it that far, the chances of getting anywhere near the maximum win are pretty much impossible.
