Peak Power Slot (Pragmatic Play) Slot Demo & Review

Power has been in the news quite a bit recently, as the world looked on in amazement at the American’s announcement of a “net energy gain” resulting from a recent nuclear fusion experiment. The headlines are undoubtedly impressive – and exciting – but take the time to read the small print, and it turns out that what they call a “net energy gain” fails to take account of the energy required to operate the necessary machinery. Is it just me, or is that taking serious liberties with the meaning of the word ‘net’? There are no such shenanigans from Pragmatic Play, however; When this developer tells you that their new Peak Power online slot offers ten paylines, a 96.05% RTP, and a 10,000x stake maximum jackpot, you know that those are numbers that you can trust!

Most of Pragmatic’s recent output has been little more than reskins of their previous releases, so I’m especially happy to reveal that Peak Power is a brand-new machine with an all-new feature set! The headline mechanic is a random payline multiplier feature, as this can boost all regular pay line wins by up to 500x. There’s a full-on bonus round too, in the form of a free spins feature that can further boost these payline multipliers up to a maximum of 1,000x. The bonus buy facility has two options to choose from – you can purchase a set of regular free spins or go for the YOLO option, which comes with a minimum 100x multiplier on every single pay line!

Who needs to recharge their batteries? This slot ought to do the job! Go ahead and try it for yourself – our free demo slot of Peak Power is available to play below.

Peak Power Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Peak Power Slot Paytable
Peak Power slot paytable

Whenever you see the word ‘power’ in the title of an online slot, it’s most often the case that it is being used as a superlative rather than referencing electricity, as is the case here! This isn’t the first game to use a power-based theme. Who could forget Big Time Gaming’s outstanding Danger High Voltage?! However, the electric theme only goes as far as a few token energy-related symbols, and the low pays are all represented by BAR symbols for some reason! I don’t recall seeing any other slots that used this payline multiplier feature. The closest thing I remember playing would probably be Playtech’s Mr Cashback, but that was more about payline prizes than pay line multipliers.

When any payline hit has the potential to be boosted by a multiplier of up to 1,000x, it’s probably fair to assume that the numbers stated on the paytable are not going to be particularly impressive! The top spot goes to the international radiation symbol (or the Slammin’ Vinyl logo, if you’re an old-school 1990s raver!), which has a payout of 10x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind, closely followed by the highly flammable symbol which returns 5x the bet for all five symbols. I don’t recognise the remaining two high-paying symbols, but there’s a circular one at 3x and a teardrop-style one which will award 2x the total bet for a complete payline. The low pays consist of single, double, and triple BAR symbols, awarding 1.5x, 1x, and 0.4x, respectively. Finally, three or more scatter symbols will also award a token cash prize of 3x the total bet in addition to the free spin bonus round.

Low rollers will be pleased to hear that this is a rare Pragmatic Play release with a minimum wager of just €0.10 per spin! Better still, you can choose to play almost any multiple of the minimum bet until you reach the maximum permitted wager of €100.00 per spin, an increasingly rare privilege nowadays.

Base Game & Modifiers

Peak Power Slot Base Game
Peak Power slot base game

If you forget about the huge payline multipliers available in Peak Power, the game is otherwise a typical five-reel video slot. The machine sports a 5×3 reel set along with ten fixed paylines, meaning that you probably won’t win quite as often as you may be used to with many other modern online slots. Personally, I don’t mind wins being relatively infrequent if they are generally quite large when they do appear, but if you prefer to win a little very often, then this probably isn’t an ideal game for you.

Paylines Multipliers

On any spin, the game will randomly add several multipliers to various paylines. Whenever a winning combination hits on a line with one of these multipliers, the respective multiplier will be applied to your winnings. During the base game, the available possible multipliers are 2x, 5x, 10x, 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x, and 500x. Larger multipliers can appear during the bonus round.

Peak Power Slot Bonus Features

Peak Power Slot Free Spins Feature

When three, four, or five bonus scatter symbols land on the reels, the game will award 10, 12, or 14 free spins, respectively. Let’s find out just how electrifying this bonus round is in more detail below.

Free Spins

In this mode, all paylines are guaranteed to have a minimum multiplier of 5x attached to them. Higher multipliers will randomly be applied to one or more paylines on each spin. The possible multipliers available during free spins include 10x, 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x, 500x, and 1,000x. Unfortunately, the free spins cannot be re-triggered!

Bonus Buy

If the base game is frustrating you by not adding enough multipliers for your liking, why not skip it and purchase yourself a set of free spins? You can choose to pay 100x the normal price per spin for the regular free spins feature described above or splash out on a 300x Super Free Spins feature where every payline is guaranteed to have a minimum multiplier of 100x applied to it – how awesome does that sound?

Peak Power Slot Review Final Thoughts

I love the payline multiplier feature offered in Peak Power, but there’s no question that it can be highly frustrating to see those big multipliers popping up repeatedly on pay lines that never seem to catch a win. That’s just the way slots work, of course – you can’t get lucky on every spin – but playing this slot for too long would probably give me a soul-destroying sensation! For now, though… just one more spin!
