Phoenix Reborn Demo Slot (Play'n Go) Slot Demo & Review

I’m always excited to try an online slot from Play’N’Go that I haven’t come across before. This developer has been one of the most consistent creators of high quality games over the past few years, and even when I don’t particularly enjoy one of their games, it is usually down to personal preference rather than the game being objectively poor. The Phoenix Reborn online slot was released almost three years ago, so appears to have slipped under my radar. It’s a 40-payline game with a maximum win of 5,000x your stake.

Phoenix Reborn video slot makes use of a rare combination of five reels of six rows. I gave the game a few spins before looking at the paytable and it was immediately obvious that there is an expanding wild feature, as well as a free spins bonus round which awards additional spins should you hit more than three of the triggering scatter symbols. Is there more to the Phoenix Reborn slot game than this? Let’s find out!

If you are a big fan of Play’N’Go like me, you might want to fire up the game right now and play a few spins before reading all of the gory details in depth – our free demo slot of Phoenix Reborn right here is waiting for you to try right now!

Phoenix Reborn Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Paytable For Phoenix Reborn Slot

I found it quite challenging to categorise this game – it definitely has some mystical elements to it, the background makes me think “Aztec”, yet the symbols which populate the reels do not feel as if there is a cohesive theme on the whole. A peek at the Play’N’Go website reveals that the Aztec vibe I felt when looking at the background is intended to be the overall theme of the game. Perhaps I just do not have enough knowledge about the Aztecs! The music is enjoyable, and whilst the loop would benefit from being a little longer, the sound effects break things up just enough to stop it become repetitive too quickly.

As much as I am a fan of Play’N’Go slots, there is a new trend creeping into their games over the last two years, and that is the “capped bonus round”. The developer seems to have decided that 5,000x your stake is “good enough”, and if you hit this at any point, you should forfeit the remainder of your free spins. I can understand this in a way with Phoenix Reborn video slot – I managed to get four Phoenix Wilds multiple times just while testing this game, and it genuinely felt like the 2,000x pay off for hitting all five was close enough that I could touch it on each occasion.

My best single hit was in the 900x range, whilst my best bonus outcome from 7 spins (I never hit more than 3 scatters) was roughly 1,800x. This is a very top heavy paytable – the phoenix wild pays 25x your stake for a full line of five, and with the expanding wild feature and 40 paylines, you can understand why a jackpot spin feel as if it should be very easy to achieve. The next two symbols pay 10x and 7.5x your stake for five-of-a-kind respectively, but hitting a full screen of either of these is much less likely because they do not expand as the Phoenix Wild does. More likely, you will see four Phoenix Wilds, with one of those other high paying symbols on the fifth reel, resulting in a payout of 800x or 600x your stake for each individual spin.

The betting range begins at €0.20 per spin, which is nice of Play’N’Go – most 40 line games require you to bet at least a penny a line, whereas Phoenix Reborn video slot considers the low rollers as well by offering such a low minimum bet size. The maximum bet is set at a completely unrealistic €100.00 per spin – the option is there if you want to try it, but you better have a huge bankroll if you do!

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 5 Reels, 40 Paylines, And Win Up To 5,000x Your Stake On Play'n Go's Phoenix Reborn Online Slot

As mentioned previously, the play area is fairly unique at a size of 5×6 – this is twice the area of a regular slot, and the payouts have been adjusted accordingly. Unfortunately, there is only one modifier available during the base game, though surprisingly this did not affect my enjoyment of the slot too much.

Phoenix Rising Feature

Whenever a Phoenix Wild lands anywhere on the screen, it will expand into a six-tall symbol that acts as a stacked wild. Theoreteically you can land five of these during the base game for a maximum payout of 2,000x your stake, although I only ever saw three land at the same time whilst testing the game.

Phoenix Reborn Slot Bonus Feature

Land 3 Or More Scatter Symbols To Trigger The Free Spins Feature On Phoenix Reborn Video Slot

The free spins bonus spices up the action by guaranteeing at least one Phoenix Wild per spin for the duration of your feature. Hitting two, three, four, or five scatter symbols will award 3,7, 12 or 20 free spins respectively.

There really isn’t much else to add other than what was stated above with regards to the free spins feature – the additional phoenix wild will be added after the reels have come to rest, so if you already have four on screen, you know for sure you are about to hit a 2,000x jackpot. In my experience, hitting four phoenix wilds was fairly easy – I never saw the full screen of five, however.

Phoenix Reborn Slot Review Final Thoughts

Phoenix Rising is a tough one – it’s an enjoyable game, no doubt about this, but on the other hand, there isn’t as much to it as we have come to expect from this developer. I loved testing this game and absolutely intend on playing it for real money in the future – just be aware, it isn’t the very best that Play’N’Go has to offer.
