Pong Pong Mahjong Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
You’d be forgiven for thinking there are not too many Mahjong-themed slots around, at least in Western iGaming markets. However, they’re more common than you might think. We’ve reviewed plenty here, including the Mahjong Ways 2 slot from PG Soft, Pragmatic Play’s Mahjong Panda, and Mahjong Jinpai from Skywind. Like Pong Pong Mahjong, none really have many Mahjong elements, aside from the theme and the symbols, of course.
Speaking of symbols, it’s about time I took you through what they pay on the Pong Pong Mahjong slot. Honestly, this was the part of the review I was looking forward to the least. I have very little idea of what the symbols are or what they represent. I have had to do a Google search (at least I’ve admitted it) to get the names of each symbol. You will probably have to do the same or familiarise yourself with the slots paytable. The Three Dragon symbols deliver the best payouts, with the Red Dragon paying 5x, whilst the Green and White pay up to 4x and 3x, respectively. Next up is the Wind category of symbols. The East, West, South, and North Wind symbols pay up to 1x the stake, with lower value Suit symbols all returning just 0.5x for a winning combination of five.
The staking options are pretty impressive on the game, ranging from a minimum bet per spin of €0.20 for the low rollers and up to a maximum of €40.00 for those with deeper pockets.

Microgaming’s Pong Pong Mahjong offers 1,024 ways to win across a 5×4 reel configuration, with players needing to land 3 or more symbols of the same kind of successive reels starting from the leftmost reel first for a win to be awarded.
Rolling Reels
Pong Pong Mahjong delivers the chance to land multiple wins on a single spin and with an increasing multiplier each time. Rolling Reels is a cascading reel mechanic with a progressive multiplier. After every winning combination on the reels, the winning symbols disappear, causing a cascade of new symbols to drop onto the reels. New cascades bring the potential of new winning combinations. Furthermore, each successive cascade has an increased win multiplier applied. The first win has a 1x multiplier, while the second, third, and fourth wins carry 2x, 3x, and 5x, respectively.
Top Reel
Above the reels is a 3-position horizontal reel that only spins in certain situations. During the base game, it will spin after the first cascade win. If the spins reveal 3 matching symbols, all instances of that symbol on the reels below will transform into wild symbols.
Pong Pong Mahjong Slot Bonus Features
Appearing in the base game only are two different scatter symbols. The first is a standard scatter, which can appear on all reels, and the second is a Special Scatter that only appears on the 5th reel. To trigger the free spins bonus on the Pong Pong Mahjong slot, you must land a combination of the two scatter symbols on the reels. Where they land is not important as long as they all appear on the same spin. Three standard scatter symbols trigger the regular Free Spins bonus, and two standard scatters and a single special scatter symbol trigger the Dragon Free Spins bonus.
Standard Free Spins Feature
Players are awarded 10 spins to begin the feature, and during this bonus, the Rolling Reels progressive cascade feature applies 4x, 6x, and 10x win multipliers for the second, third, and fourth cascade wins. The 3-position reels above the reels also spin after every free spin and not just after a winning cascade. Finally, a Dice symbol can land, which rolls at the end of the spin to reveal 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, or 6 additional free spins.
