Rags To Witches Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Witches, eh? In days gone by, the populace at large had zero doubts as to the existence of these magical yet evil women, who apparently could cast spells, commit curses, and cook up dubious potions from seemingly innocuous ingredients that would have frightening results. Witches, when discovered – or often, even suspected – were burnt at the stake, which is not-very-well-concealed code for simply murdering somebody you don’t like very much, I would say. Somehow, witches have become a common theme in modern popular culture, leading to an endless stream of movies, video games, and of course, online slots based on them. We have recently reviewed Witch Treasures and Witches Cash Collect, and I am sure that Rags to Witches will not be the last witch-themed game we review here at Demoslot.
The stunning graphics used for the symbols in Rags to Witches will surely steal your attention at first, but it probably won’t be long before you begin to wonder how much they are worth! The witch is the highest-paying symbol with a return of 16.66x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, followed by the skull worth half as much at 8.33x. Next up, there is a strange-looking bat-like creature which will pay you 6x your bet for a full pay line, followed by a black cat at 5x. The pair of sweets/candies will pay you 3.33x for a full pay line, whilst the candle completes the high-paying section of the paytable with a return of 2.5x for all five. There are five low-paying royals, too, making the reels of Rags to Witches seem especially crowded with different symbols.
The wagering options are a bit of an oddity here – the minimum bet of €0.30 is fine, representing a penny per pay line, but the next increment available is €1.20 – the scale ramps up quickly, and there aren’t enough options in my opinion for players with smaller bankrolls. The maximum bet is another strange number – €112.50 – so you really have to wonder what Betsoft was thinking regarding this aspect of the game.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Rags to Witches utilises the familiar five reel, three row layout common to most online slots. One of my first questions was why my first set of three scatter symbols did not result in a feature?! After checking the paytable, I realised that this game is unusual in that four scatters will award you a cash payout, whilst five to seven scatters are required to trigger the free spins bonus round.
The regular payouts are all awarded for standard paylines of three to five matching symbols; however, you will need more than one scatter on each reel to win a bonus round. The so-called “prize reel” feature is equally puzzling, as it triggers at random after any base game spin, at which point you will be awarded a jackpot prize. Effectively, the prize reel feature is functionally identical to the “random jackpot” feature of many Real Time Gaming slots from back in the day.
Prize Reel Feature
As mentioned above, the prize reel feature works similarly to a modifier because it can trigger randomly after any base game spin. When this happens, you will be awarded one of the following four jackpot prizes:
- Mini Jackpot – 10x Bet
- Minor Jackpot – 100x Bet
- Major Jackpot – 500x Bet
- Mega Jackpot – 1,000x Bet
Rags To Witches Slot Bonus Features
There is just one main bonus round in Rags to Witches, aside from the prize reel jackpot feature that is described in the base game section above. To win yourself some free spins, you will need to land at least five scatters, meaning you will need one on every reel as a minimum. The game will reward you with just 2x your bet if you land four scatter symbols.
Free Spins Feature
During this mode, there is an ascending multiplier that is determined by the number of triggering scatters. If your free spins feature is triggered by the minimum of five scatter symbols, then your ten free spins will start at a 1x multiplier, with the tenth spin having a multiplier of 10x attached to any winnings that may result from it.
If you are lucky enough to hit six scatters, the multiplier will start at 2x and increase by 2x on every subsequent spin before maxing out at 20x on the tenth. The maximum of seven scatter symbols will reward you with a 3x multiplier that increases by 3x until hitting 30x on the final spin. Unfortunately, you cannot re-trigger the free spins, and the prize reel feature will not activate during this mode either.
Bonus Buy
You can opt to purchase ten free spins for just 31x your bet, which is undoubtedly an excellent deal. The problem is that it only buys you a five-scatter trigger, meaning that the multiplier for each spin will range from 1x to 10x on the final spin.
If you want to purchase the more profitable bonus rounds with multipliers of up to 20x or 30x, these come at an additional premium; the cost for a six-scatter feature is 86x your bet, whilst the seven-scatter feature costs a whopping 305x the normal price per spin. That’s a hefty price to pay, but it may even be worth it – my testing of these premium options resulted in a profit, or close to it, on almost every occasion.

I admit to being a little surprised by just how great this game was – the presentation is outstanding, especially the beautiful graphics which were obviously drawn by extremely talented artists. The bonus buy feature provided a few surprises, too, as the premium options offered by a lot of games often result in frequent losses; this is one game where I would cautiously recommend you try the higher-cost options occasionally. Overall, this is an excellent online slot and a credit to Betsoft.
