Rainbow Riches Power Pitch Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Just in case you have been living under a rock for the past decade, the Rainbow Riches franchise is an Irish/Leprechaun-themed series of slot machines that have been popular with players for years. These games were around even before online casinos were, and yet they are still popular today, despite some of them not being the best slots, in my own opinion. The original Rainbow Riches was the first slot I ever played, so it has a special place in my heart, but I would never say it was the best game around – Power Pitch is a far superior machine, however, and brings the franchise bang up to date with better features, bigger wins, and more exciting gameplay.
There are many features in Rainbow Riches – Power Pitch, but the normal paytable isn’t half bad either. The rainbow riches logo symbol is worth 200x your stake for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, for example, which is far higher than many previous games in this series. The toadstool symbol is next with a return of 100x the bet for all five of those, whilst the horseshoe and harp are worth 50x your bet for a full payline of five-of-a-kind. The green top hat completes the high-paying part of the paytable with a payout of 30x the bet for all five, after which there are just four low-paying royal symbols. Sadly, none of the bonus symbols has any special return of their own, but I can accept that, given that the payouts for the regular symbols seem relatively high.
The betting range is nice and sensible, with a minimum bet per round of €0.10 and a maximum of €10.00. There are plenty of intervals between the two extremes, too, so the only players who will be disappointed here are those who enjoy betting silly amounts on a single spin!
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game plays out much like every other Rainbow Riches game with a 5×3 playfield, but ten paylines are much fewer than I have become accustomed to in these games. The sheer amount of bonus symbols can be a bit of a problem, as quite often you will end up with a screen full of different scatter symbols that aren’t worth anything as you just one or two of three different kinds of symbol – I guess that’s just how it goes in a game with so many features, however!
Power Pitch Modifier
I wouldn’t exactly call this a modifier in the traditional sense, as it is triggered whenever a wishing well symbol lands on the reels. When this occurs, all the multipliers currently shown on the screen will be added up and credited as a win. The paytable shows a 35x return, but I never saw anything that large whilst I was testing the game.
Rainbow Riches Power Pitch Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus round in Rainbow Riches Power Pitch is a three-spin feature that takes place on an enlarged reel set. If the feature is triggered on a spin where a rainbow also lands, you will have four lives instead of the usual three for the duration of the feature.
During this mode, the normal symbols are removed from the reels and replaced with multipliers and modifiers. If no symbols land on a spin, you will lose a life; lose all three of your lives, and the feature will end. Each time a new symbol lands, your remaining lives will reset to three or four, depending on if the feature was triggered with a rainbow symbol.
The size of the playfield used in the bonus round is determined by the number of triggering scatters. However, you can also enlarge the playfield whilst the bonus is in play by completing a full column with bonus symbols. The maximum size of the grid will always be 11×5, though, so if you hit a five-scatter trigger, you will not be able to enlarge the playfield any further.
If you fill the entire screen with bonus symbols, the game will automatically pay you the maximum jackpot of 10,000x your bet, and any remaining lives will be forfeit.
Premium Play Feature
I initially thought the premium play option was just a bonus bet, but it turns out to be an entirely different game – a three-reel slot with just one pay line. The aim of this mode is to hit three scatters and trigger the power pitch feature, which I guess must be easier in this mode than in the regular game.
The size of the power pitch playfield depends on the amount you choose to bet for the premium play feature – €2.00 per spin will give you the 9×5 playfield, assuming you hit the scatter symbols, whilst €5.00 will get you the 10×5 reel set, and €10.00 per spin can potentially award the 11×5 playfield.
I suspect that the developer has implemented this feature in this way to skirt around the bonus buy restrictions in jurisdictions such as those covered by the UKGC, as you aren’t buying a feature; you are just buying a higher chance of winning a feature. I’m not sure how long that loophole will last, but for the time being, it seems to fit within the rules.
If you fail to hit the scatter symbols with your premium play spins, you can at least win between 2x and 6x your bet by hitting between one and three coin symbols, but those aren’t exactly hugely exciting prizes.

I was honestly shocked by how great this slot is! Many Rainbow Riches titles are decidedly average, but this one is absolutely a winner and is 100% recommended.
