Fans of darker looking slots should be happy upon first impressions of Evoplay’s new Redrose Sanctuary machine, as it boasts a distinct horror-movie vibe complete with vampire-esque imagery, spooky looking clocks, and goth-style jewellery. The vital statistics are much more average, as this is a 20-pay line game with a 96% RTP. There’s no mention of a maximum win anywhere on the paytable or in the help file, but I’d be willing to guess it isn’t too small, bearing in mind my own experience whilst testing this game.
The feature set does seem a little bit restrained. We have a special symbol that doesn’t pay; it’s instead only used in the Wild Roses feature or to increase the current win multiplier. There’s also a free spin bonus round triggered by scatter symbols, the highlight of which is undoubtedly the sticky wilds feature. Not too many features then, but if I’m honest, I ended up feeling like there was enough here to satiate the appetites of the majority of players.

Redrose Sanctuary Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I sometimes wonder which came first – goth subculture, or the art style used in games and movies like this one? If that sounds silly, I guess what I’m really saying is, are the girls who dress up in goth outfits copying the style of characters such as the protagonist of Redrose Sanctuary? Perhaps I should do a little more research or dig into a few similar themed games on our site, like Immortal Romance or Vampires. Either way, you have to hand it to Evoplay – this game’s main character looks cool! I don’t think I would want to cross paths with her in the dark late at night, however…
She might look good, but how does she pay? Well, a full payline of five-of-a-kind will pay you 10x your bet, but as this symbol only appears in a full-height stacked configuration, the headline figure is only half of the story. The stopwatch and Christian necklace are each worth 3.7x the bet for a full payline, whilst the map book and broch are each worth 3x for all five symbols. A final two high-paying symbols, represented by a goblet and a set of keys, are also both worth 3x your bet for the maximum combination of five-of-a-kind. Five royals make up the lower-paying half of the paytable, all of which have the same return of 1.5x for all five symbols.
The betting range offered in Redrose Sanctuary starts with a minimum wager of €0.10 and tops out at a maximum of €200.00 for each round. This matches other Evoplay games I have tested in the past, but I am not entirely sure if all online casinos will offer the same very high maximum bet.
Base Game & Modifiers
Redrose Sanctuary features a slightly enlarged playfield of five reels and four rows, and there are 20 fixed paylines spanning the reel set. This does feel a little low considering the larger-than-average playfield, but it also gives the developer a reasonable amount of flexibility when it comes to the mods and features that they can implement.
Special Symbol
The special symbol looks like a gaseous orb of red light, and whilst it does not have a monetary value, it does have one or two other attractive uses! See the two special features below for specifics.
Win Multiplier
At the top of the main reel set, you will notice a multiplier is shown; each time that a special symbol lands, this multiplier will increase by 1x. The multiplier is applied to all winning combinations but will reset back to 1x on the tenth spin after it first increases to 2x. During the bonus round, any active multiplier at the time the scatters land will remain in force for the free spins.
Wild Roses Feature
This feature is activated at the same time that a multiplier increase to 2x takes place and will create a magic cell around the reel position where the special triggering symbol previously landed. After ten spins, all positions that have a magic cell surrounding them will transform into wilds, giving you one chance at obtaining a huge win on lots of pay lines simultaneously.

Scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five only, and you will need to hit all three of them on a single spin to trigger the main bonus round and be in with a chance of hitting something big.
Free Spins
Before your bonus round begins, any multiplier currently active in the base game will be saved and will remain in force for the duration of the bonus round.
In this mode, all wild symbols that land on the reels will become sticky. Because of this, it is possible to fill a large percentage of the screen with sticky wilds, making it much easier to hit big wins. I had two great bonus rounds despite only playing around a dozen features while I was testing this game, so I am keen to try it for real money as soon as I see it has gone on general release!
Redrose Sanctuary Slot Review Final Thoughts
I was initially a tad dubious about this one, but Redrose Sanctuary exceeded my expectations in just about every way by the time I had finished playing. I love the art style, the bonus round, and, most importantly, the winnings I achieved during demo play were exceptional! I’m really looking forward to trying this machine in real money mode soon.
