I often commend Elk Studios for not doing this, but it seems the allure for a quick and easy slot release is too great, even for them. What we have today is Reindeer Royale, a slot that is essentially a re-skin of another popular title in the Elk Studios portfolio, Rabbit Royale. The gun-toting Rabbits have been swapped out with Reindeer, which, while a tad lazy, has at least been done to a high standard. The slot’s visuals and all-around presentation are top-notch. Reindeer Royale has 5 reels and 5 rows with 259 connecting paylines, a 94% RTP, and a 25,000x the stake maximum win.
In terms of the features, these are generally the same as on Rabbit Royale. At the centre of the action is a money collection feature coupled with re-spins. Reindeers collect cash values from Ammo Crates that land naturally or appear when wild symbols participate in winning combos. If you trigger the free spins bonus, those Reindeer remain sticky between spins, and their values always carry over. Gameplay & Features
Reindeer Royale is played on a 5×5 grid featuring 259 connecting paylines. Three or more matching symbols across adjacent reels from left to right will result in a payout. To join the gameplay for real money, you can stake between €0.20 and €100.00 per spin.
Wild Symbols
Able to land on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, wild symbols will substitute for regular symbols when winning combinations are possible. Furthermore, once they’ve done that, they’ll transform into Ammunition Crate symbols holding a random cash value.
Ammunition Cache & Reindeer Collect Symbols
As well as appearing as a result of winning wilds, Ammunition Crate symbols can also land naturally anywhere on the playing grid. If a Reindeer Collect symbol is on the reels, it will collect all the cash values revealed by the Ammo Crates. It also triggers a re-spin with all Reindeer wilds moving to a random new position on the reels. Furthermore, should two Reindeer symbols land adjacent, they’ll have a battle, with the winner collecting the collected cash value of the loser.
Ghost Feature
If at least two Reindeer are present on the reels following a re-spin or free spin, there is a chance the Ghost feature can trigger. A face-off occurs between a random number of reindeer, who, this time, do not need to be sat adjacent to each other.
Free Spins Bonus
Landing three or more scatter symbols anywhere in view triggers the free spins bonus. Depending on the number of triggering scatters, you’ll receive:
- 3 Scatters: 3 spins with a single Reindeer that lands on the first spin.
- 4 Scatters: 4 spins with 2 Reindeer landing on the first spin.
- 5 Scatters: 5 spins with 3 Reindeer landing on the first spin.
As well as the Reindeer you receive when by triggering the bonus, any featured on that base game spin are carried over. The maximum allowed on the first spin is capped at 5. Reindeer Royale Slot Review Final Thoughts
I think we can forgive Elk Studios for the indiscretion of cloning a previous title. I just hope they’re not about to make a habit of it. The main reason I’m going easy, however, is Reindeer Royale reminded me how fun the original was. It’s a great slot, as is this one…obviously, even if they’re not as feature-packed as other Elk titles.
