The Kraken, which anyone who has seen the movies or read the books Moby Dick and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will know is a massive mythical octopus-like sea monster, has not been used as a theme for as many slots as you might expect. However, aside from the three Release the Kraken slots, the multi-armed beast is used in Mascot Gaming’s Reveal the Kraken, BGaming’s Kraken’s Hunger, and Playtech’s Kraken Spins, among others.
With a few other recommendations out of the way, it’s time to get back to this Release the Kraken Megaways, and specifically its paytable. The Shark tops the pay chart with a 7.5x the stake return paid out when six of the symbols line up across the reels, while the Puffer Fish is the second most lucrative with a top payout of 4x. The Piranha, Eel, and Jellyfish then return 3x, 2x, and 1x, respectively. The lows pays are broken up into the Ace, King, and Queen, which all have a max return of 0.8x, and the Jack and Ten that pay up to 0.6x.

The biggest change from the previous titles on Release the Kraken Megaways is the reel format and the mechanic to calculate wins. We now have 6 reels and the Megaways engine, delivering up to 117,649 ways to win on every spin. Each reel can deliver between 2 and 7 symbols on each spin, meaning you’ll receive different ways to win each time.
There are no paylines, and instead, winning combinations form when matching symbols line up on consecutive reels from left to right. You’ll need to match three or more of almost all symbols, with the exception being the top-paying symbol, the Shark, which requires two or more.
Mystery Symbols
Mystery symbols can only appear during the base game, and when they do, all instances change into the same regular symbol at the end of the current spin.
Wild Respins
Landing three or more wild symbols anywhere in view during the base game will trigger the Wild Re-spins feature. The Wild Symbols move around the reels during the re-spin, and if a winning combination occurs, it is paid, and another re-spin is awarded. Furthermore, any other wild symbols that land become roaming wilds. The feature ends when a re-spins reveals no further wins.
Random Guaranteed Wins
After any losing base game spin, there is a chance the symbols will rearrange to create a symbol combination that pays out a minimum of 10x the stake.

Release the Kraken is a fantastic follow-up to Release the Kraken and Release the Kraken 2, and it brings a lot more to the table thanks to Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic and a more exciting bonus game that can offer minimum ways to win, global win multipliers, roaming wilds, or a combination of the three. A lot of the entertaining gameplay from the original slots remains, but I feel like the features on this latest slot gel together better than before. My only gripe is the maximum win of 10,000x the stake has not improved from the first game.
