Game Overview
What number are we up to now in the Wilde series from Play’n GO? It’s definitely over ten; I tend to lose count when I run out of fingers. Joking aside, Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu might just be the eleventh instalment (don’t quote me on that). Play’n GO has certainly worked hard to squeeze every drop of success from Rich Wilde and the Book of Dead, which, let’s face it, is still one of the most popular slots out there. But with Pearls of Vishnu, are we diving into familiar waters, or does Rich have some fresh tricks up his sleeve? As for the game specifics, Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu is a 5×3 slot with 20 paylines, 96.17% RTP, and a 2,000x the stake maximum win.
The visuals are pretty much what you’d expect if you’re familiar with the slot series as a whole, as the design and layout stick to the usual formula, with Rich Wilde taking centre stage. However, rather than attempting to make another archaeological discovery in Egypt, he’s navigating mystique-filled settings across India, adding a fresh twist to the usual adventure vibe. As for gameplay, there’s a multiplier meter that can boost symbol payouts by up to 10x, a three-tiered bonus game that doles out prizes up to 750x the stake, and, of course, a free spins bonus for those looking to score some big wins.
Ready for yet another Wilde adventure? Then, we have you covered by providing you with the Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu slot demo below.
Theme, stakes, pays & symbols
We all know this epic series started with the Book of Dead, and I think we would all agree that none of the follow-ups to date have yet to enjoy the same level of success. However, whilst maybe not as good as the initial release, some of the follow-ups have been really enjoyable, like The Tome of Insanity, with its cluster pays mechanic and a portals feature that adds wilds to the reels or triggers a damnation spin. A few other examples, if you want to try them out, feature Rich Wilde’s daughter, Cat, such as Cat Wilde and the Doom of Dead and Cat Wilde and The Lost Chapters.
It’s the pays section next, and in terms of payouts, Vishnu offers the highest reward, with a 25x the stake return for five symbols in a row. Ganesha, the Elephant God, comes next and has a 12.5x top payout, while Krishna can award up to 7.5x, and the Egg can return a maximum of 5x. The Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten make up the lower pays and return 4x, 3x, 2.5x, 2x, and 1.5x, respectively, when involved in 5-symbol combos.
Play’n Go sticks to its usual betting structure on Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu, with players having a wide choice of options available, starting from a minimum of €0.20 a spin and maxing out at €100.
Base Game & Modifirs
Awaiting you once the the short introduction cutscene plays out is a 5-reel and 3-row playing grid that comprises 20 fixed paylines. To the left and right of the reels are two meters, one that keeps count of the tokens needed to trigger a special bonus game and another that tracks the current win multiplier.
Winning combinations form when three or more matching symbols appear across a payline starting from the leftmost reel. All symbols involved in wins are removed from the reels, which triggers a tumble of new symbols falling in from above. If they help create more combinations, the process continues until a tumble produces nothing new.
In addition, each new winning combination on the same spin will increase the Win Multiplier meter to its next level, which is 2x, 4x, 6x, and 10x. That multiplier value, which resets at the start of a new spin, will apply to any wins formed in the future.
Bonus Game
As for the meter to the left of the reels, it counts how many token symbols are collected. Tokens can appear anywhere on the reels, and you’ll need 15 to unlock a three-stage bonus game that could award up to 750x the stake.
The three stages play out as follows:
- 1st Stage (Wheel of Bishma): You’ll receive a spin on a three-part reel that could deliver an instant prize or reveal a key that unlocks the next stage. The three sections stop spinning, and you’ll receive the payout of the highest-valued symbol that lands. A key will also send you to the next stage.
- 2nd Stage (Wall of Shiva): Next up is a Picking Game that, again, will reveal instant prizes or potentially a key to take you to the next stage.
- 3rd Stage (Statue of Vishnu): Finally, there is another picking game that involves selecting a pearl. In this stage, the prizes are bigger than those in the previous stages.
Rich Wilde & The Pearls of Vishnu slot bonus features
If there’s one thing players look forward to with a new Rich Wilde slot, it’s the main bonus game. On Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu, you’ll trigger a free spins bonus when three or more Pearl Scatter symbols land anywhere in view.
Free Spins Feature
You receive 10 free spins, and once again, the multiplier meter is in full swing. The Pearl Scatters are transformed into Wilds and collected each time they land. For every 5 collected, you receive an additional 5 spins and the multiplier meter increases to the next level. It’s possible to trigger up to 50 free spins during the bonus.
Pros
- Fantastic visuals and presentation.
- The three-stage bonus game somewhat enhances the base game.
Cons
- Play’n Go uses multiple RTP ranges in its slots, so keep that in mind. Check the RTP of the version you’re about to play.
- A lacklustre bonus game and just a 2,000x the stake maximum win.
Rich Wilde & The Pearls of Vishnu Slot Review Final Thoughts
I’ll be honest, Rich Wilde and the Pearls of Vishnu serve up the quality presentation we’re used to from the series, but aside from that, it falls flat for me. The medium variance, a maximum win of just 2,000x the stake, and a mediocre and frankly boring free spins bonus are not a combination I look for when searching for a new slot to play. In short, why would I play it when I could just play Book of Dead and have a far more enjoyable (and potentially more lucrative) experience?
