Rise Of Atlantis (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

The story of the lost city of Atlantis is one of the most resilient tales in human history. Whilst most people are relatively certain that Atlantis is nothing more than a myth, the story has proven extremely difficult to either prove or disprove. Blueprint Gaming has taken a few liberties here though – if Atlantis really did exist, then I’m willing to bet my last fish and chips that Poseidon was not there holding a trident whilst breathing underwater. Please prove me wrong! Blueprint’s new Rise of Atlantis online slot sports an unusual payout mechanic whereby every symbol pays as a scatter and has an RTP of 96%. As for the maximum win, that comes in at a whopping 50,000x bet.

Features are a little bit thin on the ground in this game. We have a pair of “rising multipliers” that act as modifiers and are triggered randomly at the start of any paid spin, along with a free spins bonus round, triggered by hitting four or more bonus scatter symbols. Those free spins come with a maximum multiplier of up to 500x, according to the paytable – let’s see how close we can get to that when testing the game, shall we?

What, you don’t trust me to test the free spin multiplier? You’d prefer to try it yourself, you say? You people are just unbelievable at times; fine, be my guest! Our free demo slot of Rise of Atlantis is available to play below.

Rise Of Atlantis Slot Paytable

We’re all about slots here at Demoslot, so it’s only fitting that I tell you about a couple of our favourite Atlantis-themed games! Atlantis Megaways is possibly the best of the bunch, whilst Big Atlantis Frenzy must surely take the prize for the silliest name! I’ve heard that Amazon recently bought the Stargate franchise rights, so who knows? Perhaps we’ll see a licensed Stargate Atlantis online slot some time in the near future? Right, where was I? Oh yes, Rise of Atlantis; let’s take a better look at how Blueprint has tackled this genre.

You might technically call Rise of Atlantis a grid slot based on its unusual scatter-pays payout mechanic. This setup means that our top-paying symbol represented by Poseidon is worth 50x the current stake for a maximum hit of 12 or more symbols anywhere on the screen. Poseidon’s crown occupies the second-place spot with a return of 25x your bet for 12 or more symbols, whilst his famous trident will pay you 15x the total stake for 12 or more of those. A jug surrounded by gems submerged in the sands is worth 12x, whilst a roman column – again, buried in the sand – takes the final high-paying spot of the table with a return of 10x your bet. As for the lower value pays, these come in the form of jewels coloured purple, red, green, and blue, paying 8x, 5x, 4x, and 2x, respectively, for clusters of 12 or more.

It’s a pretty standard affair when we get to the game’s betting range, and Blueprint always tends to keep things simple for players here. Stakes start at a minimum of €0.20 a spin and progress nicely before reaching the maximum bet of €100. There’s a decent amount of options between these two values, so in my opinion, there will be something to suit the style of all gamblers who choose to try this game out.

Base Game & Modifiers

Rise Of Atlantis Slot Base Game

The scatter-pays payout mechanic used in this game is possibly the simplest method of determining wins you will ever come across. Whilst other online slots feature specific paylines or payways, Rise of Atlantis only asks you to add up the number of matching symbols which appear anywhere on the playfield to determine your winnings.

There are six reels, each containing five rows for a total of 30 positions. You will need to land at least eight matching symbols anywhere on the screen to receive a win, with more significant payouts awarded for 10/11 or 12+ matching symbols. This does mean that you can potentially hit two or even three sets of matching symbols on a single spin, although I only saw this happen a handful of times whilst I was testing the slot.

Rising Multiplier

Multipliers can appear as a bubble on any spin during the base game and the bonus round. The blue variety seems to be the least valuable, whilst the orange or flaming type typically shows up featuring much larger multiplier values. The multiplier inside these bubbles is applied to any wins that occur on the same spin, but their real trick is that they will remain in place after your winning symbols are removed from the playfield.

At the start of each spin, all multiplier bubbles that are currently in view will rise by one position. During the bonus round, this action is accompanied by an increase in multiplier value of 1x. If the symbols underneath the bubble are later removed from the grid after being included as part of a winning combination, the bubble will fall back to the bottom of the screen.

This will allow the bubble to continue rising indefinitely, and the paytable claims that it is theoretically possible for rising multiplier bubbles to reach a maximum value of up to 500x. Good grief, Poseidon.

Bonus Bet

The bonus or ante bet facility will double your chances of triggering a free spin bonus round in return for a 25% increase in your total bet. The paytable indicates that the overall RTP does not change when this option is enabled, so this seems to be a fair deal, in my opinion.

Rise Of Atlantis Slot Bonus Features

It always feels slightly unfair when a game requests that you hit at least four scatter symbols to trigger the bonus round. What was wrong with the old standard of three scatters, Blueprint Gaming!

In all fairness, however, it is a little bit easier to hit the scatter symbols in Rise of Atlantis than in most other online slots, as huge numbers of symbols are regularly removed from the playfield during each game round. This allows many additional symbols to drop into view, and I often found that I would hit three scatters from my initial spin before catching the all-important fourth scatter due to a winning symbol cascade.

Free Spins

A minimum four-scatter trigger will award 12 free spins, whilst five or six scatter symbols are worth 16 or 20 free spins, respectively. The bonus round plays out similarly to the base game, with one crucial difference; the rising multipliers will increase in value each time they move upwards on the reels!

Keep your fingers crossed that you can keep your multiplier bubbles on the screen for as long as possible, as the paytable claims that you can potentially reach a maximum multiplier value of 500x whilst this mode is in play.

I did see some good multiplier values show up whilst I was testing the game, but keeping the bubbles in view for more than a handful of spins seems like a real challenge. Realistically, I very much doubt anybody will be getting anywhere near 500x whilst playing this game; it’s sure nice to dream though!

Bonus Buy

We have two options on the bonus buy facility menu. For 100x, the normal price per spin, you can purchase the standard bonus round with a random number of triggering scatter symbols. Alternatively, if you pay 350x the price of a single spin, you will receive the so-called “ultimate rise” free spins, which promise only the largest multiplier bubbles.

Frustratingly, the paytable does not give any clue as to the possible size of the multiplier bubbles in either of these modes. I did notice much larger bubbles appearing during the 350x mode in comparison to the regular free spins, but if I am going to pay such a huge amount for a bonus round, then I would really like to know exactly what I am getting for my money.

Rise Of Atlantis Slot Review Final Thoughts

I’m willing to recommend this game because of its excellent graphics and huge potential to pay big wins. However, the presentation feels slightly sloppy, which is unusual for a top-tier developer such as Blueprint. The information on the paytable and in the help pages should be more specific than this, especially when you are asking players to pay as much as 350x for a bonus round. The problems are relatively small, but the biggest software houses in the industry should not need reminding about the basics.
