Nolimit City is never afraid to create games based on controversial, adult, or unusual themes, which makes a refreshing change in an industry dominated by fruit-based slots and other “safe” themes. Gambling is, after all, an adult pastime, so there should be no reason for developers to shy away from creating games based on themes such as this. Unsurprisingly then, the Road Rage video slot is somewhat unique as I do not ever recall playing a game with a “Carmageddon” vibe to it until now! Of course, creators of popular culture do often tend to use shock value to their advantage, and I am sure there is a large element of that going on with Nolimit City and their Road Rage online slot. Is it just shock for shock’s sake, or is their substance hiding behind the fascia?
To answer that question, we will begin by looking at the game’s paytable; the highest-paying symbol is the red driver with a return of 5x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, followed by the yellow old man at 3.75x, the green pot-smoking lady at 3x, the purple dude at 2.5x, and angry blue man at 2x for all five. It has to be said that these figures seem extremely small, even considering that this is a pay ways game, and whilst stacks of matching symbols do show up now and again, they do not seem to dominate the reel set in this game. Clearly then, Nolimit City is hoping that the features they have included will carry this one – spoiler alert, they probably do in my experience. But hey, we’ll be getting to that in just a moment… hang in there, friend!

Base Game & Modifiers
The regular base game of the Road Rage video slot takes place on a standard 5×3 playfield, but things work differently here to almost any other game you might be used to. The payout mechanic works by using “adjacent pay ways, ” meaning that symbols must connect with one another on at least one corner as they move from left to right to be included as part of the same winning combination.
Wild Car Respin
Hit two scatter symbols during the base game, and you will trigger a free re-spin that guarantees a wild car on each reel where a scatter landed. The wild cars trigger their own modifiers, detailed below.
Yellow Car – Engine Breakdown
Increases the size of other symbols on the same reel by one position
Red Car – Drive By
It drives from left to right, increasing the symbol multiplier of each symbol that it moves over as well as leaving wild symbols on both the first and last positions that it drives over.
Green Car – Drive By
Acts just like the red car but starts from the right-hand side of the screen and can trigger an additional feature if the two cars collide. When this happens, the multiplier for each car will be added together and applied to a “colliding wild”, which will drop in the position where the collision occurred.

All three of these bonus rounds begin with the Rage Buff mode, which appears before any free spins start. The Morning Rush free spins have three rows, just like the base game. At the beginning of the feature, one wild car is selected to act as a sticky wild and will be locked in place. H1ghway Jam Free Spins Feature
This feature expands the playfield to four rows, and two wild cars will be selected to act as sticky wilds at the beginning of the bonus round. Landing just one scatter in this mode will upgrade the feature to City Mayh3m, whilst hitting three wild cars will also re-trigger the Wild Buff feature.
City Mayh3m Free Spins Feature
The top free spin feature is played on a further expanded playfield with five rows, and all three wild cars will now act as sticky wilds for the duration of the bonus round. This one costs mega money when using the bonus buy feature, but I have to say that in my experience, most of my tries turned out either in profit or very close to it!
Bonus Buy Feature
You have four options when selecting the bonus buy feature in Road Rage online slot; 66x your stake buys you six morning rush spins, whilst 270x is required for the Highway Jam spins. The City Mayhem spins cost an enormous 666x your bet, or you can opt to pay 334x for a 33%/33%/33% random shot at any of the above.
These prices are high, no question, but as mentioned above, I found the costs to be quite reasonable compared to the returns I got from each feature during testing.
Road Rage Slot Review Final Thoughts
Road Rage is everything you would expect from Nolimit City – an adult theme, tonnes of bonus features, and a solid payout structure. These games won’t be for everyone, but I find them to be a great change from typical online slots. Recommended!
