It turns out that you first need to build these multipliers up before they can be won – to reach the highest-possible values, it’s necessary not to win one for as long as it takes to max out the meter. I’ll go into a little more detail later, but for the time being, just know that the jackpots are neither progressive nor guaranteed prize amounts.

Rocket Chimp Jackpot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
So just where does the strange title of this online slot come from? A quick glance at the game’s paytable and information pages can certainly provide a few clues. The reels are filled with various space-themed objects such as a moon, a space helmet, and a satellite, whilst the astronaut wearing the helmet is (of course) Neil Pawstronger, the first chimp ever to visit the moon! Exciting times we live in, don’t you think? It makes sense that space-themed slots are coming back in a big way right now, with all the media attention focused on Elon Musk’s Starship and NASA’s return to the moon. The “new space race” has given us such hits as Space Stacks, along with the terrifying Pigeons From Space, but I guess only time will tell if it will also give every nation on Earth (except for poor old North Korea) another half-handful of moon rocks to show off in their museums.
We get four high-paying symbols on the paytable of Rocket Chimp Jackpot!, the most valuable of which is the moon symbol which has a maximum payout of 60x the total bet for a full payway of five of a kind. The satellite is a little less valuable, with a top prize of 40x the current stake for all five symbols, whilst the rocket can pay up to 30x for a complete payway. Finally, the astronaut’s helmet will get you 16x your bet back for a five-symbol combination. As for the low-paying symbols, five Aces will get you 12x back in winnings, followed by 10x for the Kings, 6x for Queens, 4x for the Jacks, and 3x for the Tens/Nines.
The minimum/maximum permitted bets have been set at €0.25 and €25.00 per spin, respectively but take note that there are not many other bets available between the two limits. How many are “not many?” … Five. Five bets across a 100x spread. Hopefully, this is something that Mascot Games will look into tweaking slightly in the future.
Base Game & Modifiers
The playfield used in Rocket Chimp Jackpot! has five columns of three rows each, creating the 243 possible payways from the left to the right of the grid. Many games that use this configuration of reels and ways opt to have their symbols arranged into stacks, but Mascot has instead opted to reduce the number of different symbols on the playfield. It’s important to do one or the other; otherwise, you can end up with a game that delivers far too many dead spins. You’ll still need at least three matching symbols starting from the left to score a win with most symbols, although the lowest paying Nine/Ten symbols also pay for just two matches.
Scatter Feature
Whenever a scatter symbol lands during the base game, it transforms into a free spin or a jackpot symbol. The free spin symbols are collected in the accumulation meter shown to the left of the reels, whilst the jackpot symbols have a value added to the corresponding meter displayed at the top of the screen.

Unlike most other slots, you don’t need to hit three or more scatter symbols simultaneously to trigger a bonus round whilst playing this machine. Instead, it’s simply a matter of filling the meter displayed on the left of the reels, and a bonus round with 15 free spins will be awarded.

The key difference between this mode and the base game is that the scatter symbols now have slightly different functions. When a scatter transforms into a free spin symbol, it will add one free spin to your remaining total. As for the jackpot symbols, hitting even one of these will immediately reward you with the corresponding jackpot prize… is that a little too good to be true…?

Hmmm, it might just be from the looks of it. The maximum values for the games Neon, Violet, and Golden jackpots are 1000x, 5000x, and 10,000x, respectively. Whilst I was testing the game, it did seem that the Violet and Golden jackpots would increase in value faster than the smaller Neon jackpot. This is the behaviour that I would expect because of the way the jackpots are paid out.
Because the bonus round is guaranteed to trigger once the accumulation meter is full, and you only need to hit a single jackpot symbol during your 15 free spins to collect the corresponding prize, it may well be impossible to dodge the higher prizes for long enough to allow them to reach their peak values.
It’s hard to get a good feel for this aspect of the game without devoting some serious time to it, but my best guess at this time is that it would certainly be more than a little tricky to collect a 10,000x Golden Jackpot.
Pros
- Much bigger jackpots than many other Mascot slots.
- Fun theme, although a little more animation and humour would have gone a long way towards improving things even further.
- Easy to trigger the bonus – even collecting a small jackpot is essentially guaranteed if you play for long enough to hit a few bonus rounds.
Cons
- Significant time is needed to build jackpots up to their maximum values.
- ‘Stretchy’ jackpots mean that there is no guarantee you can ever collect the full 10,000x promised on the paytable.
Final Thoughts
I like the concept of Rocket Chimp: Jackpot, and it’s certainly difficult to complain that jackpot prizes are “too easy” to hit… even in a scenario such as this! On the other hand, if a jackpot prize does reach its maximum value and then you spend significant time struggling to collect it, that is effectively leaving money on the table as well.
