Roll The Dice Slot (Booming Games) Slot Demo & Review

The title screens for the latest Booming Games slot give the title of the game as “Rx7ll the Dice”, as the ‘o’ letter is represented by a six-sided die with a 7x multiplier face pointed towards you. It looks quite nice, I suppose, but writing Rx7ll repeatedly is where madness lies, so I’m going to stick with Roll the Dice for the purposes of this review! This is a low volatility machine with an old-school 3×3 reel setup, so don’t expect too much from the maximum win – I calculated it at just 243x the total bet. However, the gamble option tops out a little higher (depending on your chosen stake) at €10,000 flat. The RTP is a tad above average at 96.20%.

Many three-reel games offer little in the way of bonus rounds, but Booming Games has done its best to spice this one up a little with some special features. There’s a free spin bonus round, a pays-both-ways mode, and a multiplier feature that can reach a maximum of 7x, explaining that weirdly stylised title screen! A double-or-nothing gamble mode provides a straight 50/50 shot at doubling any wins you can achieve.

If you fancy trying a new slot with a classic feel, then this is a perfect fit! We have a free demo slot of Roll the Dice available to play below.

You might assume that the humble die couldn’t carry an online slot by itself, but Dice Dice Baby (groan) will surely prove you wrong! Searching our review library for the term ‘dice’ returns no less than 86 results, including a few fantastic machines such as Dice Runner Megaways and 6 Appeal Extreme. In a way, it makes perfect sense for dice to feature so prominently in online slots, as the amusingly named Craps is one of the most popular table games at land-based casinos. It seems that Booming Games has tried to leverage some of that popularity here, as they have used a Craps table as the backdrop for this machine. It looks reasonably nice, but the machine’s overall presentation feels very simplistic – the three-reel setup probably doesn’t help here.

Three-reel slots don’t give developers much wiggle room with their paytables, so it is no surprise to learn that the highest-paying wild symbol in this game only has a return of 7.7x the bet for a full payline of three of a kind. The scatters aren’t far behind at 7x for all three symbols, but there’s a big gap before you reach the regulars. The most valuable ‘major’ is a blue diamond with a payout of 2.5x for a complete payline, followed by a silver horseshoe at 2x. Next, there are three further ‘minors’; a gold star paying 0.7x, a four-leaved clover at 0.5x, and a red heart at 0.3x.

The demo version of Roll the Dice permits bets of between €0.10 and €500.00 per spin, but it seems unlikely that such large wagers would be accepted when playing for real money. It’s not impossible, considering the machine’s low volatility, but we’ll have to wait for the game to go on general release, to say for sure.

Base Game & Modifiers

Roll The Dice Slot Base Game

Most of the three-reel slots I have played tend to feature five pay lines – or fewer – so I was intrigued to see that Booming Games had added a whopping ten paylines into Roll the Dice. This machine also allows you to choose the number of lines you wish to play, which is a rare sight in the modern online slot market. The small 3×3 reel set dictates that only three of a kind combinations result in any kind of win here, making the ‘pays-both-ways’ feature a little redundant in my view – they may as well have just called it a 2x multiplier!

7x Multiplier

A rare x7 symbol can occasionally land on reel two and acts as both a wild and a 7x multiplier. However, the 7x symbol can only be used to help form regular line hits and cannot contribute towards triggering the bonus round.

Gamble

On any win, you can select to try your luck at the gamble feature, which is a ‘double-or-nothing’ round with straight 50/50 odds. The RTP for this part of the game is 100%, so it’s fair if nothing else!

If a double-up takes your winnings above €10,000, you will not be permitted to gamble any further. This is a hard limit, irrespective of the size of your stake.

Roll The Dice Slot Bonus Features

Roll The Dice Slot Free Spins Feature

Bonus scatter symbols can land on all three reels, and you’ll need to catch all of them simultaneously to score yourself a set of ten free spins. Take a look below at what you can expect from the bonus round when it has been triggered.

Free Spins

There are no additional mods or features available during the free spins, which is a little bit disappointing, if I’m honest. You can at least re-trigger the feature for additional sets of ten spins, and this seemed to happen relatively frequently during my testing.

2-way Pay Feature

Whenever three or more wild symbols land anywhere on the playfield, the game will award ten spins with a 2-Way-Pay feature. If three or more wilds land whilst 2-Way-Pay is active, another set of ten spins will be added to your remaining total.

If the scatter symbols land whilst 2-Way-Pay is active, then the free spins feature will play out with your 2-Way-Pay spins put on hold – the two features cannot be active simultaneously. When the free spins feature ends, 2-Way-Pay will resume.

Roll The Dice Slot Review Final Thoughts

You have to judge games such as this purely on their own merits as if you were to compare Roll the Dice to other modern video slots, then it may well seem a little dull and monotonous. On the other hand, if you are looking for a classic-style three-reel game to play, this one is better than most.
