Royal Xmass Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Christmas is the perfect theme for an online slot machine, which perhaps explains why every developer seems to come out with a new Christmas-themed game each time the festive season rolls around. Some developers have taken to re-purposing their most popular game each year and re-skinning it with a Christmas theme, whilst others, such as this Royal Xmass slot game from Endorphina, represent a little more effort on the part of the developer. Either way, it doesn’t really matter – for those who enjoy a little festive slotting, there’s indeed nothing better than a Christmas-themed slot machine to play whilst knocking back a few festive alcoholic beverages and spending a little of our excess Christmas funds. If we can also win some extra money, then all the better.
The paytable of the Royal Xmass slot game is roughly what you would expect for a 4,096-way online slot. The crown symbol pays 7.5x your bet for a full pay way of six-of-a-kind, followed by a purple circle of gems and a red bauble, both of which pay slightly more than 5.1x for six-of-a-kind. A Trumpet and a Sceptre complete the high-paying symbol line-up, each paying 5x your stake for a full pay way of six symbols. There are six more royal symbols with much lower payouts, and strangely the scatter symbol doesn’t get a mention on the paytable either.
Whilst this does indicate that the scatter symbols have no cash payout of their own, on the bright side, it is at least made clear that extra free spins are awarded if you trigger the free games feature with more than three scatter symbols.
This is the first payways-based game I have seen by Endorphina, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to the betting and wagering setup. As it turns out, there are few surprises to see – at the minimum penny stakes coin value, you can bet between €0.40 and €4.00 per spin, whilst upping the coin value to one euro widens your options to between €40.00 and €400.00 per spin.
If you have the bankroll to play at these levels, Endorphina’s slots are probably some of the least risky online slots on which you could make such huge bets. Nevertheless, we still don’t recommend it unless the size of your bankroll is only rivalled by Xi Jinping’s love for honey.
Base Game & Modifiers
Whilst most of Endorphina’s online slots tend to be based on pay line payout mechanics; Royal Xmass makes use of payways instead – a more modern system, for sure, and one that works particularly well with the super-sized 6×4 playfield employed by Royal Xmass Slot Game.
These advantages are further exacerbated by the fact that all of the symbols that feature on this game’s reels appear in stacks, making it not just likely – but probable – that you will win on a large number of pay ways at once each time you score a winning combination. Each pay way might not be worth a huge amount on its own, but score a few dozen (or even hundred!) of them at once, and it’s easy to see how your winnings can quickly stack up.
Wild Symbols
The wild symbol does not appear on the first reel, meaning you can never score a full pay way of these symbols by themselves. Frustratingly, the wild does not substitute for the bonus/scatter symbol either, although this is pretty much the norm in all but the most generous of online slots. The wild does not apply a multiplier to any winning combinations that it forms a part of. Still, it really doesn’t need to – just the appearance of a wild symbol is usually enough to link up dozens of payways, resulting in an impressively sized win.

Could this mean it will go on to multiply your winnings further using the gamble feature for some truly staggering gains? I’m honestly not sure, but if so, only a Christmas-themed slot could be this generous!
Gamble Feature
Early Endorphina games used a traditional playing card-style gamble feature where you simply needed to pick the opposite suit to the dealer to double your winnings. Later games, such as this, implement a much more nuanced gamble feature that is fairer to the player. It’s still a risky bet, of course, but you do get the chance to view the dealer’s upcard before making your decision as to whether to risk your winnings on the turn of a card. For this reason alone, I’d recommend always checking what the dealer’s upcard is before playing another spin – the overall RTP of this feature is just 84%. Still, certain upcards give you odds of up to 162%, which is a bet I would probably take every time!

It’s nice to see Endorphina implementing a few more features into their games – I’d have to guess that I missed this one when it was released in late 2021, but I’ll be sure to spend a little time playing it at the end of this year instead!
