Rumble Ratz Megaways Demo Slot (Kalamba Games) Slot Demo & Review

When I first looked at Kalamba’s title Rumble Ratz Megaways online slot, I had to ask myself – are the Rumble Ratz some franchise that I’ve never heard of? Or maybe a rock band with a rather uninspired moniker? It turns out it’s neither of these things, nor is there any interesting story at all – Kalamba just liked the idea of cats and rats going at each other with kitchen hardware, it seems. And hey, the layout is quite cool and quirky for a Megaways slot, too – so who’s to argue? The unusual layout means an equally unusual maximum number of Megaways – 46,656 – whilst the RTP is a reasonable 96.21%. Finding a maximum win figure for this one proved tricky, but the consensus amongst third-party sources seems to indicate 5,000x, so I’m going to trust somebody has a better hookup at Kalamba than I do.

The biggest feature of Rumble Ratz is its Megaways mechanics, but things don’t work the way you expect them to, so stick around for details later. There is also a K-CASH symbol and associated K-CASH meter above each reel, which initially seemed pretty straightforward. Still, I soon found myself surprised by the winnings from my first few bonus rounds – it seemed I hadn’t quite worked out what these rats were up to yet, but they were hiding more cash than I had suspected!

Rumble Ratz Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Paytable For Rumble Ratz Megaways Slot

There’s no denying what we have here is a very funky theme – the king rat with his golden spoon, the cooking rat with his rolling pin… the rats operating the lifts controlling the size of the Megaways areas, and then the cats. They are suspiciously poking their heads out from the sides of the reel set. It all looks very cool and reminds me of a bunch of Disney flicks I probably saw as a child where cats and rats battle in similar situations. I believe there’s an American Tale slot in Vegas, and I’d imagine it plays a lot like this one!

So how do our obscenely cute rodent friends stack up on the paytable? I was slightly more impressed before I realised just how high the bet size was when I began looking at the paytable. Our king of the castle with his golden spoon is worth 5x your bet for a full pay way of six-of-a-kind, which isn’t great but isn’t terrible for a game with almost 50,000 possible pay ways either. We then have a soldier rat with a giant candy apple… I think? Sometimes I feel dumb when I look at parts of slots and aren’t quite sure what to make of it, but anyway, he pays 4x your stake for all six just the same. Also, paying 4x, wait… what was I saying about feeling dumb? Is that robin-hood-rat with a ladle there? I’ll bet he’s not giving away his take after he removes it from the other rats, that’s for sure! And finally, we have a female rat with a spatula and the chef rat with his rolling pin, both of whom pay 3x your stake for six-of-a-kind,

Bet sizes can be as low as €0.25 or as high as €37.50, which is far from the biggest range I’ve seen in a Megaways slot but as with any game with a scary level of variance such as this, exercise caution when choosing how much to bet per spin.

Base Game & Modifiers

Play With 6 Reels, 46,656 Paylines And Win Up To 5,000x Your Bet In Rumble Ratz Megaways Online Slot From Provider Kalamba Games

The game has six reels, but these extend in height between four and six spaces according to an elevator system that is positioned above each of the reels – it’s not the typical “each reel is randomly split into a different number of sections with each spin” Then you have the cash prizes above each reel, controlled by the K-CASH symbols, which are entirely separate from Megaways and are arguably more innovative on their own.

K-cash Symbols

During both the base game and free spins bonus round, you can collect K-CASH symbols – essentially pieces of cheese with bet multiples labelled on them – which will then be collected and added to the stack on the top of each reel.

If the column height is currently less than six rows when a K-CASH symbol appears, the game will randomly decide whether to just add the K-CASH to the total above the reel or whether to expand the column as well.

During the base game only, an additional K-CASH Reset symbol can appear, which will reset the reel height back down to four rows, and a cat will come and smash the accumulated K-CASH meter, awarding the prize to the player.

Rumble Ratz Megaways Slot Free Spins Feature

Land A Minimum Of 3 Bonus Symbols To Trigger The Feature On Rumble Ratz Megaways Video Slot

The free spins feature doesn’t work anything like your typical Megaways game either – you’ll need between three and six bonus symbols to trigger a bonus round, and whilst you will only receive three free spins regardless of the number of triggering scatters, you do receive a small additional cash prize of up to 15x your stake for hitting the maximum of six triggering scatters.

During the free spins feature, any K-CASH symbols will always expand the height of a reel which is less than six rows high. When this happens, the remaining spins will be reset to three.

An additional K-CASH multiplier is also in effect and will increase each time a K-CASH symbol appears, with all winnings being multiplied by this amount at the end of the bonus round.

Bonus Buy Feature

There are three different levels of bonus buy options in the Rumble Ratz Megaways video slot. The first level has a K-CASH multiplier of up to 4x and costs 60x your regular stake, whilst the second level costs 100.4x your stake – not sure why the extra .4x, but there we go – and ups the K-CASH multiplier to 7x. Finally, you can go full-on nuclear and pay 140.6x your current stake for a maximum K-CASH multiplier of 10x.

During testing, I always found I got better results with the higher-cost options, but I still rarely saw any profits from these bonus rounds. The tiny amount of free spins – just three – means you are relying on constant K-CASH symbols to come out ahead, and those bonus rounds seem to be few and far between, in my experience.

Rumble Ratz Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts

This is undoubtedly one of the most unique takes on the Megaways formula that I have seen, and the game has an enjoyable theme to go with it too. I’m not sure it’s a slot that I would keep going back to, but I did find it entertaining in the short time I played it to compile a review. Give the demo a try above and see what you make of it.
