Game Overview
We expected it to be the case, but new Christmas-themed slots are starting to come thick and fast. Each day, we’re reviewing a new one, or at least that’s how it feels. That can test the sanity of any slot reviewer, but fortunately, some developers are adding funny or unique twists to their slots’ festive themes. Take Saint Nicked 2: Ho Ho Ho from Lukcsoeme/Blueprint Gaming, which is an obvious sequel to the original Saint Nicked slot, as an example. It offers bad Santa vibes, with Father Christmas more interested in supping beer than delivering presents. I enjoyed the original, so I’m interested to see if the follow-up delivers something similar. It is a 5×4 slot with 4,096 ways to win, a 96% RTP, and a 10,000x the stake maximum win.
The first thing you’ll notice is regular sound bites from Santa as you spin the reels. They’re funny the first time, but I’d wager that most of you will turn off the slot’s sound within five minutes. They can become irritating. In terms of the features, it’s all about a Cash Collection mechanic featuring five different collect symbols that unlock as the collects occur. Aside from collecting money values and jackpots up to 2,500x the stake, they can trigger re-spins, boost cash values, and collect up all the cash before being collected themselves. The final feature is a free spins bonus, which is essentially more of the same.
Christmas is expensive, so if you’d rather hold off wagering for real cash on this slot, just play our Saint Nicked 2: Ho Ho Ho slot demo. It’s free to play.
Gameplay & Features
Once the slot loads up and the narrated introduction is out of the way, you’re greeted with a 5×4 reel configuration containing 4,096 ways to win. You’ll need to land two or more matching high-paying symbols or three or more low pays to land on consecutive reels from left to right to form a winning combination. To get the Christmas party started, players can choose between a budget-friendly minimum of €0.10 per spin up to a maximum of €10.00.
Cash Collect Feature
Beer Money symbols and the Mini (20x), Major (200x), and Mega (2,500x) jackpot symbols can appear anywhere in view, and they’re collected whenever the Santa Collect symbol lands on the fifth reel on the same spin. After each collection during a session on the Saint Nicked 2: Ho Ho Ho slot, the next type of Collect symbol is unlocked.
On top of the regular Santa Collect, four others will unlock with each cash collection. The previously unlocked Collect has to trigger to unlock the next:
- Rudolph: Once unlocked, the Rudolph Scatter can appear on the first reel and collect Beer Money symbols.
- Lock & Spin: When this collect lands on either the first or last reels, all Money Symbols are locked into position while all other positions receive a re-spin. The re-spins continue until a spin does not reveal a new Beer Money symbol.
- Happy Hour: Once landed, this boosts the values of all Beer Money symbols in view by up to 5x and then collects them.
- Thirsty Elf: If landed on the same spin as a Santa or Rudolph, the Thirsty Elf collects all Beer Money symbol values and holds that value. It is then collected along with the rest by the other collect symbol.
Free Spins
Three or more scatter symbols anywhere in view will trigger the slot’s free spins bonus. Alongside receiving 10 free spins, you’re credited with a 20x, 100x, or 500x the stake payout in return for 4, 5, or 6 of those scatters.
The spins play with the currently unlocked Collect symbols playing their part. You’ll receive an additional 5 spins each time three or more scatter symbols appear anywhere in view. Finally, a Cash Symbol multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x is applied for the 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters, respectively.
Pros
- A fun Christmas theme
- The cash collection feature with different collections is what makes this slot.
Cons
- Low staking options
- Free spins don’t offer anything different from regular spins.
Saint Nicked 2 Ho Ho Ho Slot Review Final Thoughts
We’re hardly going to have a shortage of options for slots to play over the festive period, and while Saint Nicked 2: Ho Ho Ho isn't the most amazing slot, it's still one of the better new Christmas releases I've reviewed recently.
