If you haven’t guessed already, Sizzling Hot Deluxe is undoubtedly a retro-themed slot. This is a fruit machine inspired game, although that influence doesn’t go much further than the symbols used. If you simply enjoy games that use these kinds of symbols, Yggdrasil’s Fruitoids, Nolimit City’s Fruits, and NetEnt’s Fruit Shop all look a lot like this game, but they have many more extras, such as bonus rounds, music, and modifiers. However, the graphics do look good in the Sizzling Hot Deluxe slot game, and the 5,000x top win is undeniably the two best asset of this machine.

Let’s talk about the paytable in a little more detail – that big 5,000x win is possible thanks to the Lucky 7 symbol, which awards 20, 200, or 1,000x your stake for 3, 4, or 5 of a kind, respectively. The grapes and watermelon are the next biggest hitters, paying 100x your stake for a full line of five. This does mean that there is a huge drop between the best win of 5,000x, and the next one down at 500x your stake. If you were hoping for anything special from the scatters, sorry to disappoint, but they only pay 50x your stake for all five. I really wish Novomatic had upped that payout a little – the return of 2x your stake for three scatters is appalling when you don’t even get a bonus round out of it, either!

Each time you hit a winning spin, you are offered the chance to gamble your winnings in a 50/50 red or black playing card-style game round. This gives you the opportunity to double your winnings, and the game repeats if you are successful. However, there’s no pie gamble or anything like that, so it only takes one losing round to lose everything you have won – and all previous double-ups.

I’m not a fan of this kind of gamble – for low wins, you need to correctly pick many times in a row to get a figure of, say, 5x your stake up to anything interesting. On higher amounts, is it even worth risking it once? There is no situation where I think using this option makes a lot of sense,

There is nothing to speak of, sadly. When you do hit the game’s jackpot, players have reported that the lucky 7 symbols will drop in flaming stacks, so if you start to see them landing on the screen, it could be time to get excited. The scatters don’t award anything, though, and there isn’t even a pick-me feature or anything like that to spice things up a little. The jackpot may be Sizzling Hot, but not a lot else is.
