Game Overview
Crash gambling is a simple type of online casino game that can often look a lot like trading stocks or currencies but is usually gamified in some way. There’s a good reason for that first part – this style of gambling first became popular after the rise of Bitcoin during the early 2010s and, in many cases, hasn’t changed a whole lot since that time. Gaming Corps Skyliner is a very simple crash game, but one that offers an RTP towards the higher end of the scale at 97.37% with a maximum jackpot prize of 10,000x the player’s stake.
Whilst the statistics are relatively good, the feature set leaves a bit to be desired – this is about as basic as crash gaming gets, with even the visuals featuring nothing more than a four-colour animation of an aeroplane flying across a city skyline. It doesn’t look especially appealing to me, but the clouds in the sky and the sad-style piano music all gel together quite well and create a coherent game experience. You can bet twice on each round, and both bet boxes include an automatic cashout function should you wish to use it.
If you’ve already played previous crash games, such as FlyX and Aviator, then Skyliner probably doesn’t have anything new to show you. If not, or even if you are just curious to see what Gaming Corps has to add to this popular style of simple gambling game, we have a free demo of Skyliner available to play below:
Skyliner Crash Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
If you are one of the players who has already had their fill of the crash game genre, then maybe don’t click away just yet – Evolution Gaming has produced an interesting take on the idea with their Cash or Crash Live game, a gameshow-like experience similar to their hugely popular Crazy Time live game. It’s worlds apart from previous crash games such as this one and Spaceman, and it will be interesting to see what else can come from the crash game concept now that a developer has broken cover with a solid, well, evolution of it!
Crash games don’t run on paylines, payways, or paytables, and nearly all of them offer only a single prize per round. That’s the case here, with the initial prize value starting at 1x and maxing out at a potential 10,000x the total bet – or €10,000, whichever comes first. I’ve played a couple of interesting crash games recently that included bonus portals and win multipliers and similar features, but unfortunately, Gaming Corps hasn’t added anything of that sort here – the multiplier value shown in the centre of the screen does increase at different rates during different rounds, but that’s about as much variety as you can hope for here!
The betting range available in Skyliner is adequately wide with minimum/maximum permitted wagers of €1 and €200 respectively, but just as with many slots, there is a huge issue here with arbitrary restrictions on how much you are allowed to bet – only two settings are available between €20 and €200, for example, which is unnecessarily restrictive.
Base Game & Modifiers
Those already familiar with how crash games function can probably skip this part, as Skyliner does not add anything new of note as far as its basic gameplay is concerned.
Before each round, players can place two bets according to the limits described in the previous section. You can also choose an automatic collection point – say, 1.5x your initial stake – for each bet separately, or you can have a mixture of automatic and manual bets. When I do play these games, I’ll usually set one bet to cash out automatically and then close out the secondary wager when I start feeling a bit twitchy; I suspect that, like many players, however, I am often too late, and the plane has already crashed by that point!
The way that the casinos make their money from these games is that some rounds end immediately after the plane takes off – in these cases, all players lose their stakes, which accounts for the casino share of the RTP.
Skyliner Crash Game Bonus Features
There are no bonus rounds included in Skyliner, I’m afraid – all you get is a roulette-style display of the results of the last few rounds displayed above the game area, along with a history of your own bets. When playing for real money, you can keep an eye on how much other players are wagering as well.
Pros
- User-friendly interface and simple gameplay
Cons
- Doesn’t add anything new to the crash game genre.
- No bonus rounds, progressive jackpots, or anything other than the base game.
Final Thoughts
There’s nothing wrong with Skyliner as such, but it’s a very average take on the crash game idea that is unlikely to find many new fans in the present day. If you’ve never played one of these games before then by all means, give it a try – it won’t keep you entertained for an entire session, but it’s certainly a quick and easy way to boost your balance when your luck is in.
