Slingo Pirate’s Treasure Slot (Slingo Originals) Slot Demo & Review

Have you got a favourite pirate? Most people would tell you that they just love the fictional Captain Jack Sparrow, but I’m more of a Blackbeard man myself. Whoever your favourite commander of the seas may be, you can sail alongside them in search of lost booty in the Slingo Originals title Slingo Pirate’s Treasure. This medium volatility game comes with a below-average RTP of 94.22% and a maximum win of just 240x.

Built across a classic Slingo format, the game also includes a scatter bonus wheel feature where up to 100x the bet can be won. The pinnacle for all wannabe swashbucklers in this title, though, is reaching the Pirate’s Booty feature game, where cannons will fire and potentially hit enemy ships, rewarding 24x the stake when a vessel is finally sunk.

So, how are your sea legs? Are they in good enough shape to sail the seven deadly seas in search of your fortune? I guess firing up our free demo slot of Slingo Pirate’s Treasure is the best way to find out. Why not give it a go; it’s available below.

Slingo may have started out online as a fairly basic concept, but certainly, since around 2022, the standard of the games has improved drastically, with creators Slingo Originals signing some exclusive deals meaning they can bring players exciting licensed games. This has led to titles like Slingo Deadliest Catch, Slingo Shark Week, and perhaps their best bit of business to date with provider IGT allowed them to create Slingo Cleopatra. After a spate of licensed games being added to their portfolio lately, we’re back to reviewing an original game today, so let’s dig a little deeper and see what Slingo Pirate’s Treasure has to offer.

Some Slingo games do feature a paytable, but this isn’t one of them. Instead, wins are awarded by marking off the numbers on your card and climbing the prize ladder. You’ll need to complete three lines before 0.5x bet is awarded, with four lines paying 1x and five lines being worth 2x. Once you reach six lines, cash, free spins, and the number of ships in the Pirate’s Bounty feature are awarded as your prize. These start from a 3x cash win, 10 spins and 3 ships for six lines and reach a 100x cash win, 16 spins, and 6 ships for 12 lines (full house)

Setting sail on Slingo Pirate’s Treasure starts from just €0.20 a game, with bets progressing steadily in size up to a maximum of €25. However, I can’t imagine there are too many players that would entertain playing Slingo on a stake of over €1, as even at that price of play, in some instances, I’ve seen the final cost hitting nearly €1000.

Base Game & Modifiers

Slingo Pirate's Treasure Base Game
Slingo Pirate’s Treasure base game

We have a regular Slingo play grid of 5×5 in action, including 25 random numbers from 1 – 90. Along the bottom of the playfield, there is one more empty row, which is the number reel and the slot part of Slingo Pirate’s Treasure. To start the game and the lower reel spinning, you will need to select your stake, which will buy you 10 spins in total. Additional spins can be purchased after these have finished, but just be aware that these can be very costly, especially when you have worked your way to a decent position up the prize meter.

Played like a traditional game of bingo; if a number on the lower reel matches a number in the row above it, then it will be crossed off. There are additional symbols that can also assist you in completing your card. These are the wild symbol, which allows you to mark off any number in the row above; the super wild, which lets you cross off any number within the grid; and the free spin symbol, that adds one more spin to your current total.

Something slightly different to this particular Slingo game is the horizontal reel to the side of the grid that can contain cannon symbols. If the Pirate Captain appears on the lower reel, all cannons in view will fire and potentially mark off some extra numbers for you and help you create additional lines.

Scatter Bonus Wheel

If three or more scatter icons appear in view, then the bonus wheel will be triggered. There are three levels of wheel, the gold, ruby and diamond, with the gold wheel being able to trigger the ruby wheel and the ruby wheel being able to trigger the diamond wheel. Reaching this bonus round will guarantee players a win of between 2x – 100x their bet.

Slingo Pirate’s Treasure Bonus Features

Heading into battle with other pirate ships is the most entertaining part of the game, and you will need to complete at least 6 lines to collect this feature. Take a look below at the levels you can enter at.

  • 6 Lines: 10 Spins & 3 Enemy Ships.
  • 7 Lines: 12 Spins & 4 Enemy Ships
  • 8 Lines: 13 Spins & 4 Enemy Ships.
  • 9 Lines: 14 Spins & 5 Enemy Ships.
  • 10 Lines: 15 Spins & 5 Enemy Ships.
  • Full House: 16 Spins & 6 Enemy Ships.

Once the bonus begins, the ships will move around before coming to a halt. At the same time, both the lower and vertical reels will spin with some positions revealing cannons. After all of the reels have stopped, any cannons in view will fire with a chance of hitting a ship if it is located within its row. Hitting a ship will award 1x the bet, whilst sinking it will pay you 24x the bet.

Pros

  • Great design and a fantastic looking game.
  • New in-game element of the horizontal firing reel.

Cons

  • Low RTP may put some players off.
  • A Max win of just 240x makes this one a hard sell.

Final Thoughts

It's nice to see an original game come out of the Slingo factory after several licensed titles, and I have to say the overall design of Slingo Pirate's Treasure is outstanding. Unfortunately, the stated maximum win of just 240x almost makes this one a non-starter for me. Yes, it might be listed as a medium volatile game, but Slingo is notorious for going on long spells of not giving you the numbers you need and racking up the overall cost. So to conclude, be careful if you play this one, but as far as I'm concerned, this is a game I'd only ever try in demo play as the max win is just far too low to even bother with. A disappointing aspect of an otherwise good Slingo game.
