Game Overview

Whilst Sloths have become incredibly popular in modern culture for being cute and moving at a rather lazy, sluggish pace, every time I hear the word, I can never unsee the gruesome scene from the movie Se7en, starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. I’m referring to the part where the serial killer, John Doe, kills his 6th victim by starving him to death for a year by tying him to a bed. It’s well worth a Youtube search if you’ve not seen it. Thankfully, Relax Gaming has taken the cute approach to their slot Sloth Tumble, so there’s no need to hide behind your sofa. As for the stats, this is a 6-reel machine with 46,656 ways to win, an RTP of 96.11%, and a huge maximum win of 100,000x bet.

We have quite a selection of features to tell you about, beginning with the tumbling reels engine. This activates each time a winning combo is created, with symbols from the win being removed from the reels, new ones falling down to replace them, and additional positions opening up on the playfield, increasing the amount of paylines in play. Then we have the multiplier overlays that increase the number of ways to win when they appear on a symbol involved in a win. However, The most exciting part of the game is two free spin bonus rounds that can be triggered, with the chance to purchase more spins at the end of them. More on that later though, slot fans.

Have I put you in the mood to search for some classic Sloth memes? Or did you have to Youtube the ending of Se7en to remember just how brilliant it was? Whatever you’ve done, I’d totally suggest playing our free demo slot of Slot Tumble. It’s conveniently waiting for you to try out below.

You can go as far back as classic slots like NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest and find an example of a tumbling reels game, but they undoubtedly increased in popularity ten-fold when Big Time Gaming unleashed their Megaways engine. One of the best slots we still enjoy playing the most in that genre is Relax Gaming’s Temple Tumble Megaways, which led the way for them to create several tumble-themed slots, including Temple Tumble 2 and Cluster Tumble, with a Dream Drop version of both games available too. So, what will Sloth Tumble have to offer fans of this mechanic? Will it make its way onto your must-play list? Let’s jump into the pays section and start to find out.

Okay, we’re over at the paytable, where the highest paying symbol in the game is the Sloth, worth 2x the bet for a six of a kind win. Next up is the Strawberry, which pays a measly 0.75x for a complete line of six, followed by the orange at 0.6x, the melon at 0.5x, and the final premium paying symbol, the grape, valued at 0.5x for a winning combo of six. Things get even worse at the lower end of the pays spectrum, with the sweets coloured red, orange, green and blue, all paying 0.2x for a six of a kind hit. The game also includes full reel wilds that can appear with multipliers attached on reels 2 through 5 before any reel tumble.

The betting range on Sloth Tumble comes with a minimum price to play of €0.20 and reaches a maximum of €10. Within these amounts, there are plenty of options for players to choose from, particularly up to the mark €3, so all players are well catered for, in my opinion.

Base Game & Modifiers

Sloth Tumble Slot Base Game

Although the base game features a 6×6 reel set, each spin you take will have a varied amount of ways to win, with some spaces on the playfield containing pay symbols and others blocker symbols. Players will bank themselves a win when three or matching symbols land on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel first.

Tumbling Reels & Playfield Unlock

Each winning combination will activate the tumbling reels engine. This will eliminate all symbols involved in the win from the reels and drop new symbols down to replace them. Furthermore, all blocker symbols adjacent to winning symbols will explode, allowing more pay symbols to replace them, thus increasing the number of ways to win.

Sloth Tumble Slot Bonus Features

During the base game, there are two styles of blocker symbols that can land. These are either the wooden blockers (most common) or the ice blockers. If you clear the grid of all wooden blockers, you’ll trigger the standard free spins feature, whilst removing all of the ice blockers will trigger the super free spins. Just for clarity, only one style of blocker will land on each spin.

Free Spins

Before the standard bonus begins, you will be awarded a random amount of spins between 6 – 12. Whilst this feature is active, it is more likely that before a reel avalanche any reels between 2 – 5 can turn into a wild with a multiplier attached. Furthermore, a special symbol can now appear on reel 6 that will add extra spins to your current total.

Super Free Spins

If the super bonus is triggered, you will first be awarded a random amount of spins between 6 – 12. Once again, full reel multiplying wilds can hit on reels 2 – 5, and extra spins can be awarded through the special symbol on reel 6. There is, however, one massive benefit to this bonus which is the inclusion of the progressive win multiplier. Each time a win is achieved that includes a multiplier overlay, it will be added to the progressive multiplier and applied to all future wins.

Buy Extra Spin

At the end of the super free spins, you will be offered the opportunity to buy an extra spin which will keep the value of your progressive multiplier in play. These can be very costly and sometimes deliver a meager return, so be careful.

Bonus Buy

If you are permitted to access to bonus buy menu, then you can choose from the following two options.

  • Standard Free Spins: Costs 100x bet.
  • Super Free Spins: Costs 500c bet.

Pros

  • Great looking game with a well-executed responsive design.
  • Green chilli multipliers of up to 100x make it possible to hit an impressive win, even during the base game.

Cons

  • Whilst Hacksaw has done its best to mitigate the problem, the low payline count inevitably delivers a lot of dead spins.
  • Even when you do hit something, it’s often not going to pay very much – the paytable isn’t very generous, so you’ll definitely need the multipliers to boost your total win.

Final Thoughts

I do appreciate a good tumbling reels slot, and Sloth Tumble sure was a lot of fun to play during my testing of the game. Obviously, you want to trigger the super free spins feature, and how likely that is without the bonus buy option, I'm not sure, but I did get a few chances at it whilst spinning in the base game. The ultimate temptation for players will come in the form of buying an extra spin, something Relax introduced us to previously in Wild Yield. Would you be prepared to pay north of 500x for one spin though? It sure is a risk, but the reward of a possible 100,000x max win is a trade-off some players will no doubt be willing to take.
