Game Overview
We’re heading deep into bandit country for this review, and initial impressions would imply that we’re not necessarily welcome here. Set amongst a desolate looking landscape under an ominously overcast sky, the first character you’ll encounter when you load up the game is a furious looking woman pointing a double-barrelled shotgun in your face, and the rest of the locals don’t appear to be much friendlier! There’s not a smile in sight here, come on guys, it can’t be that bad, right? Let’s head a bit further into this town created by Quickspin and find out. The Sticky Bandits Unchained slot is a high volatility, five-reel, three-row game featuring a maximum win of 30,000x and a top RTP setting of 96.09%.
As most slot gamers will be aware, this is not Quickspin’s first showdown at this particular corral, with Sticky Bandits Unchained now becoming the fifth title in this series. The previous versions have all stuck to a similar winning formula, with the main tweaks between them focused on visuals and minor gameplay adjustments rather than any radical changes. The developers appear to have reverted to a darker, more intense atmosphere for this iteration, and you’d certainly have to feel brave to enter the Unchained Saloon as a stranger, that’s for sure! As you’d expect, the wild symbol is an important aspect of the game, with it being utilised as the scatter symbol as well as being capable of performing sticky or colossal functions. There are three different bonus types to shoot for, landing three, four, or five wild symbols will award the Wild West Free Spins, Peacemaker Bonus, and Peacemaker Bonus Fully Loaded, respectively.

Sticky Bandits Unchained Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The Wild West theme is common in the slot world, with most providers now having at least a few titles in their catalogues inspired by this genre. Quickspin are clearly a big fan of a Western, so feel free to take a look at their page on our site to compare and play the previous versions in the Sticky Bandits series if you fancy. But, casting our aim a bit wider, some truly fantastic games from other providers are sitting within this theme. How about the Wanted Dead or a Wild slot from developer Hacksaw? A 15-payline slot, with a potential maximum win of 12,500x and an RTP of 96.27%, this game features three very different bonus rounds to play for. Will you be able to line up all five expanding multiplier wilds? You’ll be in for a huge win if you do! Talking of massive wins, I couldn’t discuss slot recommendations for the Wild West genre without mentioning Tombstone R.I.P. This 108-payway game with an RTP of 96.08%, created by Nolimit City is action packed, featuring nudging wilds, spitting wilds, and two bonkers bonuses to land. But the headline here is that this slot boasts an absolutely ridiculous potential maximum win of 300,000x! Next up, we’ll look further into the features of Sticky Bandits Unchained, starting with the pays section.
Inspecting the paytable, we can see that, unsurprisingly, the Wild is the top symbol and matching five of them in a line will award a payout of 75x your total stake. Next, it’s the Red Bandit at 25x, followed by the Orange Lady at 20x, the Green Bandit at 15x, and the final premium symbol, the Horse, will pay 10x your bet. The non-premium symbols on offer are the classic A, K, Q, and J, which will return 5x, 4x, 3x, and 2x, your stake, respectively, for each line of five symbols.
Time to analyse the stake options on Sticky Bandits Unchained, and we can see that there are a fair few to choose from, with 16 different options available in total. These range from as low as €0.20 to as high as €100.00, with gradual increments in between, meaning there’s sure to be a suitable stake selection available for the majority of players.
Sticky Bandits Unchained Slot Base Game & Modifiers
Game mechanics wise, it’s a simple affair. Sticky Bandits Unchained uses a 5×3 grid and offers a total of 10 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are formed by matching a minimum of three corresponding symbols from left to right, commencing on the leftmost reel, and wilds will substitute for any symbol. There are no cascading wins available, as symbols are not removed from the reels if involved in a win.
Colossal Wild
If three or more wild symbols land during any single spin in the base game, then the appropriate bonus feature will be triggered, and one of those wild symbols will expand into a sticky 2×2 Colossal Wild.
Cylinder
The Cylinder symbol is only present during the Peacemaker and Peacemaker Fully Loaded bonus games. It can only land once and will end the bonus once it does. When it does arrive, it will spin, and the selected multiplier value will be applied to the last spin win value.
Sticky Bandits Unchained Slot Bonus Features
Players can trigger a hatful of bonus rounds on Quickspin’s Sticky Bandits Unchained slot, so let’s dive straight in and see what these are and how they work.
Wild West Free Spies
Landing three wild symbols in the base game will trigger this feature and award 10 free spins. These will commence with a sticky 2×2 Colossal Wild in place, and any additional wild symbols that may land during these spins will also become sticky for the duration of the bonus.
Peacemaker Free Spins Bonus
Landing four wild symbols in the base game will trigger this feature and award infinite free spins. These will commence with a sticky 2×2 Colossal Wild in place, and any additional wild symbols that may land during these spins will also become sticky for the duration of the bonus. This feature will end when the Cylinder lands on the reels. The Cylinder will contain four normal bullets and one special bullet. The normal bullets have a x2 multiplier, and the special bullet will have either a x3, x5, or x10 multiplier. One of these values is selected at random and then applied to the value of the win that occurred during the spin that the Cylinder landed, which may possibly be zero.
Peacemaker Fully Loaded Free Spins
Landing five wild symbols in the base game will trigger this bonus and award an infinite number of free spins. These will commence with a sticky 2×2 Colossal Wild in place, and any additional wild symbols that may land during these spins will also become sticky for the duration of the bonus. This feature will end when the Cylinder lands on the reels. The Cylinder will contain three normal bullets and three special bullets. The normal bullets have a x2 multiplier, and the special bullet will have either a x20, x50, or x500 multiplier. One of these values is selected at random and then applied to the value of the win that occurred during the spin that the Cylinder landed, which may possibly be zero.

Sticky Bandits Unchained Slot Review Final Thoughts
Having played all previous Sticky Bandit games, when I saw this new release, I wondered if it could potentially have something new to offer or whether it would be more of the same. I think the answer to that is somewhere in the middle. Fans of the series will probably really enjoy this title, but for me, it is just a bit dull, if I’m honest. Quickspin seems to have gone to try to compete with recent, more gritty, high volatility efforts in this genre from other providers and not quite made it there. In fairness, it's still a good game. The graphics and theme are well delivered, and there’s clearly potential there at the top end with the possibility of a full screen of sticky wilds and a 500x multiplier on the loose. But I felt the base game was fairly dry, just a standard line pay slot with no in-play features, and all three free spin bonuses are far too similar, lacking innovation.
