This is my first look at a game created by Asia-focused software studio Jili, so I had no idea what to expect as I waited for their Super Ace slot to finish loading up for the first time. The first thing you’ll notice – particularly if you are playing using a regular desktop or laptop computer – is that this machine is clearly targeted primarily towards players using mobile devices. The user interface appears as a vertical slice in the centre of the screen when opened in a full-fat web browser, but you won’t see this if you happen to be using a smartphone or tablet yourself. This is a 1,024 payway machine that offers an excellent RTP of 97%, although the top prize of just 1,500x isn’t quite so impressive, unfortunately.
Although this game is officially titled ‘SuperAce’, you’ll notice it being described as “Lucky Poker” in some areas of the paytable and game rules. I’m not sure if this is due to a last-minute change of name or perhaps just regional differences, but you’ll quickly understand why Jili may have been thinking of using this alternative name. All of the symbols that feature in SuperAce are based on playing cards, but the deck has been enhanced with a few special cards to boost your chances of hitting a big win. There are “golden cards”, jokers, and also golden versions of the regular symbols, which can transform into wilds if they are involved in winning combinations. When a single round results in multiple wins, the second and subsequent prizes are boosted by multipliers, along with a free spins bonus and associated bonus buy facility.
I used to really enjoy a different slot that used playing cards as its symbols that NetEnt published, but it seems to have disappeared in recent times. With that in mind, I, for one, will certainly be checking out the Super Ace slot demo to see if it can act as a worthy replacement for Kings of Chicago!

Super Ace Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Slots are well-known as the biggest profit earners for most online and land–based casinos, but it’s often the table games that are responsible for getting people in through the door. Take Blackjack and Baccarat, for example – those two games alone make up an enormous percentage of casino revenues, particularly in Las Vegas and Macau. Using playing cards as symbols is a great way of merging slots and table games. I’m also quite partial to a game of Video Poker – games such as Deuces Wild combine the big jackpots of slots with the skill-based action of table games such as Blackjack. SuperAce fits well into this mix – the cards are well-drawn and look great, and whilst the jackpot may not be the biggest, there are at least plenty of features to keep things interesting.
It’s always a nice touch when a developer lists the prizes for their winning combinations as a multiple of the player’s stake – that’s the number which really matters, after all, yet many developers choose to show wins in alternative ways to make them appear bigger than they really are. In the Super Ace slot, the most valuable symbols are the Aces. There’s no difference between the regular and golden variety of this or any other symbol, and you’ll receive 2.5x your total bet back for a full payway of five of a kind. Five Kings will net you a return of 2x the current stake, whilst the Queens pay 1.5x, and the Jacks offer even money. The low-paying symbols also feature playing card designs, but they only show a suit without a value; the spades and hearts are worth 0.5x for a five of a kind combination, whilst the diamonds and clubs only pay half as much at 0.25x each. Whilst these wins don’t seem all that remarkable, keep in mind that there are 1,024 payways, all symbols appear in stacks, and you can also reach a multiplier of 5x quite easily, even during the base game.
Clicking on the bet selection button to the left of the main spin control will open a quick selection window with 15 different staking options. The minimum/maximum permitted bets have been set at €0.50 and €1000.00 per spin respectively, although I suspect these limits may change depending on the currency used.
Super Ace Slot Base Game
The game board utilised in the Super Ace slot looks slightly different from your typical video slot because of the playing card symbols, but It’s still a fairly standard game underneath its unique visual style. There are five reels of four rows each, which is how the game reaches its huge total of 1,024 payways. All wins require at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left.
Golden Card
The “Golden Cards” only appear on reels two, three, and four. Other than their colour, these variants have the same appearance as regular cards – the difference is that when they form part of a winning combination, they will flip over to reveal a joker symbol.
Joker Symbol
These symbols do not appear on the reels as standard and can only be created by hitting winning combinations that include golden cards – see above for details. There are two types of joker symbols, imaginatively named the “big joker card” and “little joker card”. A “big joker card” will replace up to four symbols with wilds, whilst its younger cousin will only transform its position into a wild symbol.
Combo Multiplier
After winning combinations have been paid out during play, your current multiplier value will be increased. You can keep track of the current multiplier by looking at the indicator displayed above the main reel set; the maximum value that can be reached during the base game is x5, and the multiplier is reset in between each round.
Super Ace Slot Bonus Features
Landing three or more scatter symbols will trigger the free spins feature. Unfortunately, it’s not clear if there is any benefit to hitting more than three scatters – there’s no cash prize paid for these combinations, and despite spending some time trying, I wasn’t able to hit a four-scatter (or higher) trigger to find out if there was any benefit that wasn’t mentioned on the games paytable.
Free Spins Feature
The rules of the free spins feature remain the same as the base game, with one key difference: the multipliers available in this mode are doubled compared to those available during the base game. This means that even your first win from a free spin will have a 2x multiplier applied to it, whilst subsequent wins will benefit from 4x, 6x, and even a 10x multiplier from your fourth win onwards.
You can also re-trigger the free games by hitting another three scatters whilst the bonus round is in play. This will add five free spins to your remaining counter, and there is no limit to the number of re-triggers that can be won.
Pros
- Great presentation – I love the mix of cards and slots!
- Stacked symbols combined with big multipliers create plenty of opportunities to win big.
- The jackpot may not be the largest, but on the other hand, this does make reasonable wins of between 500x and 1,500x more likely than they are in many high-volatility games.
Cons
- Below average jackpot of just 1,500x the total bet.
- The free spins feature doesn’t add much to the base gameplay.
- There does not appear to be any benefit to hitting more than three scatter symbols.
Final Thoughts
Super Ace slot is a great-looking game and provides a solid first impression of the quality of Jili’s online slots. I’m looking forward to seeing what else these guys have to offer in the future. It’s a shame the jackpot isn’t a little bit larger though.
