Game Overview
When I first saw the name ‘Temple Tumble Megaways’ appear for review, I couldn’t help but do a double take. Wasn’t it Templar Tumble? Apparently, it’s both! It seems that Relax Gaming has created slots under both names in the past, which is more than a little bit confusing, in my opinion! The games seem very similar, too, only differing in the symbols that they use on their reel sets. The playfield used here is a tad smaller than some Megaways games, so there are “just” 46,656 maximum payways in this game instead of the usual 117k. The RTP is 96.25%, whilst the highest possible win is 7,767x the total bet.
The gameplay of Temple Tumble is a little different to many other online slots, and I guarantee you will find it super addicting when you first begin to play! Each spin consists of paytable symbols and stone blocks, and you’ll need to clear all of the stone blocks by hitting a winning combination on adjacent positions to trigger a set of free spins. In addition, special multiplier blocks can potentially boost the value of your wins by up to 3x per block and add extra spins to your remaining total during the bonus round.
This is an entertaining and fast-paced online slot; if you haven’t tried it before, don’t waste time and fire up our free demo slot of Temple Tumble Megaways right now!
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
There is nothing explorers love more than temples (probably)! Remember the explorer from the Book of Ra? First, he went to find the Temple of Gold, and then he went on to search for Books and Temples, too, in what can only be a not-so-veiled dig against Play’N’Go for their blatant Book of Ra clone Book of Dead. We reviewed another great temple-themed online slot recently, too, titled Caishen’s Temple, a standard feature of which was its extremely high RTP of over 97%. Oh, and let’s not forget about the unbelievably similarly titled Templar Tumble games, also by Relax Gaming! I’m not sure what the deal is with the developer creating two near-identical sets of slots with nigh-on matching titles, but I will say that both machines are a lot of fun to play!
The tumble series of slots do not rely on big payline hits to award their biggest prizes, so don’t expect too much from the paytable details below; you’ll need to hit lots of payways simultaneously if you are going to win big with these games. A case in point is the highest-paying symbol – a Golden Statue – which only has a return of 1x the bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The Red Dragon face drops to just 0.6x, after which three medium pays are denoted by Coloured Gems, which award between 0.3x and 0.5x for all six symbols. All four low-paying royals share an identical payout of 0.2x the current stake whenever a six-of-a-kind combination of those forms on the playfield.
When playing the demo version of Temple Tumble, you can choose to bet anywhere from €0.20 to €1000.00 per round, but I seriously doubt that you will be able to bet such huge sums when playing for real money. I quickly checked at my favourite online casino and found the upper limit had dropped to €100.00 per spin, but this may vary from site to site.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game setup utilised in this game is very different from that of most other online slots. The reel set comprises six reels with six rows each, for a total of 36 symbol positions, but up to 24 of these can be left unused in any individual game round.
Wins are awarded for hitting three or more matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left, and winning combinations are immediately removed via the tumbling reels mechanic when your winnings have been paid. After this, new symbols will drop from the top of the screen to fill the resulting gaps.
Any stone blocks adjacent to a winning combination will be destroyed as part of the symbol removal phase. The main bonus round will trigger automatically when no more stone blocks are visible on the reels.
Temple Tumble Megaways Slot Bonus Features
Unlike most other games, there is no bonus scatter symbols on the reels of Temple Tumble. Instead, you will need to destroy all unused positions filled by stone blocks to trigger a bonus round.
Free Spins
When all stone blocks are destroyed, the game will award six free spins, and you’ll be given a chance to select the volatility of your feature. You can win additional free spins by destroying the new special blocks that only appear in this part of the game and multipliers of up to 3x to boost the value of your winnings. Clearing all visible stone blocks during free spins will add three more extra spins to your remaining counter.
Pros
- Unique gameplay.
- Choice of volatility once the free spins are triggered.
- A great variation of the Megaways engine.
Cons
- The maximum win could have perhaps been more.
- No bonus buy option.
Temple Tumble Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
I absolutely love the fast-paced action of the Tumble games, and the graphical style of Temple Tumble is my favourite of the bunch. I think it's fair to say that Relax Gaming certainly hit the mark with this release as their first-ever Megaways slot, and If you haven’t tried any of the machines yet in this series, you are seriously missing out! Highly recommended!
