Game Overview
If you’re an online casino game player of a certain age, you’ll almost certainly remember the legendary Tertis game and possibly even owned one of the original Gameboys you could first play it on. It’s incredible to think that was nearly four decades ago, so what better way to bring this iconic game back into the limelight than in the form of a Slingo title. So, without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the Teris Slingo casino game from provider Slingo Originals. This 5-reel bingo/slot hybrid has 12 winlines, an RTP of 94.07%, and a maximum win of 10,000x bet.
Tetris Slingo comes with the standard Slingo gameplay format of needing to complete lines to win prizes and special symbols appearing on the number reel, potentially helping you to complete this task. There are a couple of extra additions, starting with the Tertiminos that appear within the grid. Complete a minimum of three during your round, and you’ll be awarded a multiplier prize. However, the biggest wins in the game come from the Tetris Clusters feature, awarded by climbing the ladder when Slingos are completed. If you can reach the top, you’ll play with a 16×8 grid and give yourself a better chance of hitting winning clusters of 25 or more symbols in the free spins feature.
Were you an expert when it came to manoeuvring the blocks in this game of skill, or is this the first you’ve ever heard of Tetris? Whichever camp you fall into, get better acquainted with this casino game in our Tetris Slingo demo, available to play below.
Tetris Slingo Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
If you look back at some of the older Slingo titles in the back catalogue, you’ll find a large number have quite a generic theme, and although some of them are quite interesting, you wouldn’t say any of the games jump out at you. This has changed recently as Slingo Originals have penned deals with various companies and brands, allowing them to create licensed games which have a far greater appeal to online players. A few examples are Slingo Money Train, Slingo Cleopatra, and now there’s even a Slingo Space Invaders for players to experience, too. Are we set for yet another hit with Tetris Slingo? Let’s move on and find out.
We’re at the bet selection next, and the minimum price to play starts at €0.20 a game, with the maximum stake reaching up to €100. Each game consists of 10 spins of the number reel, after which players are then given the opportunity to buy more spins if they wish. It’s important to note that the more Slingos you complete, the higher the amount it will cost to spin the reel again. Therefore, if you are playing even on a stake of €1, you could end up paying around €55 a spin when you only need one more number to complete the grid.
Tetris Slingo Base Game
Tetris Slingo sports a traditional Slingo reel design of 5×5, housing a total of 25 random numbers with a rolling number reel positioned beneath them. The aim of the game is to mark off as many numbers on the grid (bingo card) as possible, with each successful line (Slingo) moving you one position up the pay ladder to the left of the reels. Along with the numbers that appear on the lower reel, there are also some special symbols that can roll into view, which are as follows.
- Wild: Allows you to mark off any number in the column above.
- Super Wilds: This will allow you to mark off any number within the grid.
- Free Spin: Will add one free spin to your current total.
Tetrimino Overlays
As the game begins, the Slingo grid is overlaid with a selection of Tetriminos. If a minimum of 3 are completed in full, an instant cash prize is awarded, with the maximum payout being 100x.
Tetris Slingo Bonus Features
The main feature in Tetris Slingo is the Tetris Clusters feature, which is triggered by reaching set points on the pay ladder. These various entry points come with a different sized grid and set amount of free spins. These are as follows:
- 3 – 5 Slingos: 8×8 grid with 2, 4, or 8 free spins, respectively.
- 6 – 8 Slingos: 12×8 grid with 4, 8, or 12 free spins, respectively.
- 9 – 12 Slingos: 16×8 grid with 4, 10, or 16 free spins, respectively.
Tetris Clusters
In the Tetris Clusters game, there’s a Grid and 2 Tetrimino Reels. When the feature begins, the Grid is overlaid with 2 Reels containing Tetriminos. The number of Tetriminos in the Reels depends on the Grid achieved through the collection of Slingos in Tetris Slingo:
- For an 8×8 Grid, there are 4 Tetriminos on a 2×2 Reel.
- With an 8×12 Grid, there are 6 Tetriminos on a 2×3 Reel.
- In an 8×16 Grid, you’ll find 8 Tetriminos on a 2×4 Reel.
As the Reels spin, coloured squares, referred to as Minos, cascade behind them. When the Reels come to a stop, the Tetriminos land on the Grid. Clusters are formed when Tetriminos and Minos match. A Cluster comprises 5 or more adjacent Minos of the same colour.
Pros
- Up to 100x can be won in the base game.
- The Slingo Originals team have taken an all-time classic game and transformed it into a highly playable Slingo game.
Cons
- The RTP is low by slot standards, but on par with most other Slingo games.
- Even playing on the lowest stake, the cost to try and get the final number can prove to be very expensive.
Tetris Slingo Review Final Thoughts
We've seen in the past that developers don't always get things right when they take a legendary theme, whether that be a movie or game, and transform it into an online casino title.Thankfully, we're happy to report that Slingo Originals have scored another success with Tetris Slingo after also seeing great results from their Slingo Space Invaders game, which we rated an impressive 7.5 out of 10 when we reviewed it.It sure seems these guys are on a roll at the moment, and with more licensed themes now being made available to them, we can't wait to see what other classic titles are set for a Slingo makeover.
