I took another look at the original Goonies slot by Blueprint Gaming not long ago, so it’s quite a coincidence that they have now pushed out another title dubbed The Goonies: Hey You Guys! The original cast and production team behind the film tried for years to get a sequel off the ground, but it never happened and is now regarded as being permanently off the cards. Perhaps we’ll see a remake at some point? As for this updated Goonies slot machine, it once again features 10 fixed pay lines and a 95% RTP, but the maximum jackpot prize has increased to 2,000x the player’s stake.
The first Goonies slot and its subsequent sequel were notable for their wide range of features, and this game is similarly packed with specials and bonuses. Free spins can be won by hitting the pirate skull scatters on reels two, three, and four, and there’s also a cash collect feature which activates when a sloth symbol lands on the fifth reel at the same time as one or more cash symbols on reels 1-4. There are four sloth collect symbols to unlock, and they’ll stay unlocked after you have landed them for the first time – even between sessions. The paytable also promises several modifiers but doesn’t tell you what they are and even fails to spell out how you win the game’s four jackpots shown at the top of the screen – a strange scenario indeed!

The Goonies Hey You Guys Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Blueprint has previously released two more Goonies-themed online slots – there’s the original, of course, as well as a sequel called The Goonies Return. A common issue in both games was their low payouts, which I attributed to their RTP being shared amongst far too many different features and symbols. This game looks to have fixed that flaw to an extent, but it’s not 100% clear due to the lack of specifics on the paytable of the game. I have no way to tell how many modifiers there might be, for example, which is especially frustrating when you have to determine the quality of a new release. I expect that Blueprint may update the game with better information pages at some point in the future, but that is only a guess at this time.
The highest-paying symbol is the Goonies skull and cross-bone flag, which offers a top prize of 100x the total bet. After that, there’s a big drop before we get to the three character symbols, which are worth 20x, 10x, and 10x for all five of their symbols. That’s not many high-paying symbols, and the low-paying ones are similarly sparse as well – five Aces or Kings will get you 7.5x your bet back in winnings, whilst a full payline of queens or jacks still offers a respectable 5x return.
Blueprint has been sticking to a fairly limited betting range in their recent releases, and that’s once again the case here. There are minimum/maximum limits of €0.10 and €10.00 per spin respectively, and the small bet spread means that you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a wager that suits you.
Base Game & Modifiers
The gameplay of The Goonies: Hey You Guys feels much more streamlined than its predecessors. The game still uses a typical 5×3 reel set, and with just ten fixed paylines, the developers have been able to offer some reasonably high pay line prizes. You’ll still need to hit at least three matching symbols starting from the left to score a win, but the relatively low number of different symbols on the reels make wins much more frequent than I would expect from a typical ten-line slot.
Cash Collect
During every spin, cash symbols are present on reels one through four. If a sloth symbol lands on reel five simultaneously with one or more cash symbols, the cash collect feature will be activated. Each time the sloth scatter lands on reel five, it will expand to cover the entire reel before unlocking a new sloth symbol – there are four of these in total, with the most valuable multiplying the value of cash collect prizes by up to 10x.
Random Modifiers
Randomly on any spin, additional cash symbols may be added to the reels, or extra bonus symbols can be added to reels 2, 3, and 4.

Scatter symbols are only present on reels two, three, and four, and you’ll need all three of them to trigger a set of free spins. You’ll get ten spins to start with, and any unlocked sloth symbols from the base game are also available to hit in this part of the game.

Any sloth symbols that land during the bonus round will collect any cash symbols in view and also move you one position along the meter at the top of the reels, where more spins and additional win multipliers can be won.

Final Thoughts
The Goonies movie is a cult classic, and I know that a lot of people felt very disappointed that a sequel never made it past the planning stages. With that in mind, I’m sure there will be an audience for this new Goonies slot machine! The higher jackpot is certainly an attractive feature compared to the original game, and if you love the Fishin Frenzy and Big Bass series of slots, it's almost a banker that you'll enjoy this one too.
