The RTP, therefore, has increased to a respectable 96.04%, whilst the maximum possible win is capped at 20,000x your stake. That’s a little lower than some other Megaways games, but still plenty enough to attract any slot fanatic!
The base game includes a “Piggy Bank” modifier, where wilds will expand to cover the entire reel and be collected in your piggy bank to increase your chances of triggering free spins and other bonus features. The bonus round doesn’t include an ascending multiplier feature like so many other Megaways games, instead opting for a low-paying symbol removal feature which will steadily increase the value of the symbols on the reels as the feature progresses. The Great Pigsby Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
So just, what is Great Pigsby Megaways all about anyway? I suspect the name is a satirical take on The Great Gatsby, but this is just a guess! The game uses a mansion backdrop with male and female pig characters topping the paytable. I guess the implication is that these guys are the rich and famous of the piggy world, so fair play to them – they’ve made it and are enjoying life in their big house! Seriously though, I am not sure what to make of this theme – it’s unique, though, and that may be reason enough to give this game a try.
You can’t really expect much from the paytable of a Megaways game – the sheer volume of pay ways ensures that it’s impossible for any huge payouts to appear on the list. Instead, these games offer huge wins by means of scoring large numbers of winning pay ways simultaneously. The highest-paying symbol then is the male pig, worth 3x the bet for each complete pay way of five-of-a-kind, whilst his female companion is only worth 2x – so much for equality in the 21st century, eh? A golden tiara takes the third-placed spot with a payout of 1x for each full pay way, whilst a gramophone is worth 0.8x, and a cigar and whisky symbol is worth 0.5x for five-of-a-kind. The bottom half of the paytable consists of five royal symbols, all of which are worth 0.4x for all five.
The betting range begins at €0.10 per round and maxes out at €50.00. As usual, there are more steps in this range towards the lower end of the scale, which makes sense considering that most players will not be betting more than €10.00 per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Great Pigsby Megaways uses a six-reel setup, with each reel splitting into between two and seven segments on each spin. There are a few differences in the base game compared to a typical Megaways slot. However – the wild symbols work differently, and the piggy bank feature is unique to this game. Wins are awarded for hitting three or matching symbols from the left side of the reels in the usual manner, so no surprises there.
Wild Symbols
Wild symbols substitute for all other symbols as normal, but in this game, they appear as stacked symbols which cover the entire reel where they appear. Each wild has a multiplier at the bottom of the stack, indicating how many positions the wild represents – just like the normal reels, this could be anywhere from two to seven.
Piggy Bank Feature
When a wild symbol lands on the reels, it will expand to cover the entire reel before being collected in your piggy bank for later use. Each wild you collect has a chance of triggering the free spins feature or one of the two re-spin features detailed below.
Wild Respin
When this modifier is triggered, you will be awarded a free re-spin with two to five wild reels. This can be extremely valuable if you get the maximum five wild reels with good multiplier numbers. Still, during my testing, I never saw a higher multiplier than 3x when this feature was triggered.
Great Pigsby Respin
This modifier is supposedly worth more than the wild re-spin, as it adds many of the highest-paying symbols to the reels during your free re-spin. In my experience, however, the resulting wins were relatively poor and inferior to the wild re-spin feature, which was already slightly disappointing. I’m sure I was just unlucky and would have had better results with a larger sample size, but I must be honest about what I experienced during my game testing.
The Great Pigsby Megaways Slot Bonus Features
I hadn’t been very impressed with the Great Pigsby Megaways online slot up to this point, so I had high hopes that the bonus round would be the game’s killer feature. Ten free spins are awarded initially, but you can add more to your counter by hitting further bonus symbols during the feature.
During this mode, any scatter symbol that lands will add two additional free spins to your remaining counter, as well as removing one royal symbol from the reels. Once all of the royals have been removed, any further scatter symbols that land will continue adding two more free spins to your remaining total, but no more symbols will be removed from the reels.
I expected a lot more from this feature, if I am honest, but I did have relatively good results in terms of my winnings – over 100x bet on two occasions. Still, considering I probably played more than 100 spins between each bonus round, that isn’t hugely impressive. Still, it’s a shame that Relax didn’t include a bonus buy feature, as this is the most exciting part of the game.
The Great Pigsby Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
There have been many great Megaways slots released recently, but Great Pigsby Megaways falls far short of the best of them. Megaways fans will no doubt want to give this slot a try, but I would take a look at some of Blueprint’s latest offerings instead if you want to experience the best that Megaways has to offer.
