The Race Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Just when you think the Megaways slot scene is grinding to a halt, there’s a flurry of activity, and the in-tray here at demoslot is bustling with new titles to review. We’ve only recently had our say on Cash Lab Megaways from iSoftbet and the Amazing Blood Suckers Megaways from Red Tiger Gaming, so to get a new title to look at from the creators of the mighty Megaways mechanic Big Time Gaming too, is a real treat. As I mentioned in the intro, this slot screams out ” Game Show,” so here’s hoping it lives up to be a blockbuster and not a one-series wonder.
Kicking things off with the paytable, we find BTG have stuck with their trusted coloured gems as the premium paying symbols. At the top of the tree, we have the purple gem that will pay 12.5x for a six of a kind win. This is followed by the red gem at 6x, the blue gem at 2x, and finally, the green gem, which will award 1x bet for a completed line of six. Dropping down to the lower pays, we have six royal symbols. The Ace and King, both of which pay 0.9x for a full payline, then the Queen and Jack, both worth 0.7x the bet, and finally the Ten and Nine, which will pay 0.5x for a six of a kind hit. The game also includes a self-titled wild symbol that can only appear on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5. This will substitute for all regular symbols within the slot.
The betting range is a little strange for a BTG slot. The minimum price to play is €0.20, which is pretty much always the case on their games, but the maximum stake is just €6. Whether this will be increased when it makes its way into the casino lobbies, I’m not sure, but with it being so low, perhaps there is finally the chance of seeing a max win on a Big Time Gaming slot. I won’t hold my breath on that one though.
Base Game & Modifiers
BTG has taken a trip back in time for the reel layout of The Race Megaways. Yes, it has six and a bonus escalating reel too, but rather than that extra reel being at the top like the majority of Megaways slots, it is positioned at the bottom. Ten points to the first person to tell me which BTG game was the first to do this? Yeah, I know it was Extra Chilli Megaways; I’m just testing you. Anyway, this overall setup delivers a 6×7 format that can produce up to 117,649 paylines on any spin. Topping up your balance with a win will require you to land a minimum of 3 matching symbols ( or two in the case of the purple gem ) on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel first.
Win Reactions
You might know the win reactions engine as a different term, like cascading reels or tumbling reels. Either way, they all do the same thing. After every winning connection you make, a reaction takes place where all of the symbols involved in that win are removed from the reels. New symbols then fall down to replace these giving you more chances to win. These reel cascades will continue until you fail to make a new winning combo.
Wild Duplicate
As mentioned earlier, the wild symbols can only appear on the centre four reels. Randomly after the reels have stopped, it’s possible that the wild duplication modifier can trigger. This will transform all symbols in the row above the wild into wild multipliers, with each symbol having a value of up to x5.
The Race Megaways Slot Bonus Features
There is one main bonus round on The Race Megaways, triggered when three or more scatters land in view. Before the feature gets underway, however, you will first get to watch the heart bonus. This is similar in a way to Donuts, where a prelim free spins game takes place. In this instance, each heart that you collect represents a life. Your initial triggering scatters will remain in place as this begins, and you’ll be given three lives. Each time a new heart lands, your spins will be replenished to three. Once they reach zero, your life total will be taken into the free spins feature.
Free Spins
The free spins begin with a global win multiplier of x1 in play and all of your lives from the prelim bonus intact. Every win achieved will then increment the multiplier by a further x1. So you’re probably wondering how the bonus ends. Well, friends, a new symbol is now active on the last reel, known as the terminator. Each time this appears in view, you will lose a life, with the feature finally ending when your life count reaches zero.
Win Exchange
If a win of 100x or more is achieved, then 100x of that win can be exchanged for direct access to the feature. Any wins of between 25x – 100x can be gambled via the gamble wheel for a chance of winning the free spins bonus.
Bonus Buy
If you’re impatient to wait for the free spins to trigger organically, you can access the bonus buy option and enter them immediately at the cost of 100x your bet. However, this option may be restricted in some jurisdictions.
