Thor 10k Ways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’ll bet that Marvel wishes they owned the rights to Thor exclusively. I can’t even imagine how much they would have made by now licensing the character out to online slot developers! Power of Thor Megaways, Thunderstruck Stormchaser, and Power of Gods Valhalla are just a few of the many games in our review library to feature the Norse superstar, and there are dozens more if you know where to look. Reelplay’s new offering is a little simpler than many of its predecessors, both graphically and in terms of its feature set.
Although Thor 10K Ways technically has far fewer payways than a Megaways title, the fact that you are guaranteed 10,000 of them on every spin means that there isn’t much difference between its paytable when compared to that of one of its competitors. The highest-paying symbol is a pair of axes offering 50x the total bet for a complete payway of six of a kind, far ahead of the helm, worth 5x the bet for all six symbols. Six shields will get you 2.5x your stake back in returns, a little more than the horn, which pays 2x for a six-symbol combination. That leaves us with the royal symbols, offering payouts ranging between 0.5x and 1.2x for a full pay way of six-of-a-kind.
The betting range available in this game is a little smaller than many other top-tier slots allow, with minimum/maximum permitted wagers of €0.20 and €20.00 per spin, respectively. These options should still be sufficient for the majority of players, however.
Base Game & Modifiers
Experienced players will likely spot that Thor 10K Ways looks like a typical Megaways game right after it has loaded up. Like a Megaways slot, the game features six reels plus an additional horizontal reel positioned above reels two through five. Unlike a Megaways slot, however, the number of rows on each reel remains fixed at four throughout. Add in the extra positions provided by the horizontal reel, and you get the game’s iconic 10,000 payways.
Near Miss Bonus
The main bonus round requires six hammer symbols to activate; if you land five but miss the sixth, the game will award you a consolation prize of a ‘near miss bonus’ instead. The five visible hammers will pay out the prizes shown on their labels, which can include one of the game’s five jackpots (see below) or a cash prize of a multiple of your total bet.
Note that whilst the mini and minor jackpots can be awarded multiple times from a single bonus, the major, grand, and 10K bonuses may only be paid once per round.
Thor 10k Ways Slot Bonus Features
There’s only one special feature available in Thor 10K Ways – the Bonus Respins. This is a three-spin feature that requires you to hit hammer symbols on all six reels to activate. That sounds like it should be much more difficult than the traditional requirement of three scatter symbols, although it does feel as if the hammers land a little more frequently than a normal scatter does.
Respins Feature
When the re-spins feature is triggered, the six symbols which activated it initially will be held in place. The game will then set your re-spin counter to three, and the feature will begin. The reels used in this part of the game feature nothing but hammer symbols; whenever one lands on the playfield, your re-spin counter will be reset to three. If three consecutive spins fail to add additional hammers to the reels, the bonus round will be completed.
Every hammer that lands during the bonus round will award a cash prize between 1x and 100x the total bet. Hammers can also award one of the game’s five jackpots – the MINI (10x bet), MINOR (50x bet), MAJOR (250x bet), GRAND (2,000x bet) or 10K (10,000x bet).

Final Thoughts
I like Thor; he’s one of the coolest characters in Stargate! Joking aside, I always enjoyed playing Microgaming’s Thunderstruck slots, and it's possible my nostalgia for those games makes me look kindly at future slots featuring the character.
