Ticket To Fortune (Storm Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

Whether you are a Brit, an American, or, dare I say it – of almost any nationality likely to be reading this – there seems to be a reasonably good chance that you will have watched the Wheel of Fortune game show at some time in your life. The idea behind the show was a simple one – solve a Hangman-like word puzzle, winning yourself as many spins of the wheel as possible along the way! Storm Gaming’s Ticket to Fortune unquestionably takes a few liberties concerning its visual styling, but I genuinely feel that the developer has put enough effort in here to give Ticket to Fortune a different look and feel whilst still being recognisable in respect of the source material. This is a 20-pay-line game that has a 95.8% RTP alongside a maximum jackpot prize of 3000 times the player’s total bet.

We have a couple of major talking points regarding the features to tell you about. First is the Ticket Trail, which you can climb to win cash prizes or the bonus feature by landing special golden tickets on the reels. The main free spins round is what you’re aiming to trigger though, and if you can’t activate via the Ticket Trail, you can land the wheel scatters on reels 2, 3, and 4. Before the bonus begins, you’ll get to spin on the Big Wheel, where a combination of free spins and a win multiplier of up to x10 will be awarded.

Game shows are broadcast worldwide on the radio, television, and even via streams on the internet. The idea is that several contestants will compete against one another, with the winner receiving a reward of some kind. The most common rewards or prizes are large amounts of cash, cars, holidays, and other goods or services, such as a new computer, mobile phone, dishwasher – whatever seems relevant at the time. Ticket to Fortune, on the other hand, has a host – Roger WinSpin – and he certainly talks like a gameshow host. The rest of the game, however, doesn’t have much to do with a game show. I suppose the way the prizes are awarded is relatively accurate, but it’s a bit of a letdown, all things considered.

Before we get to the main paytable, let’s briefly go over the secondary paytable displayed to the right of the main reel set – there are 7 prizes available, the lowest of which is awarded for hitting three “Ticket to Fortune” symbols return just 1x the total bet. As for the main symbols, the host takes the top spot with a payout or 5x the total bet for a complete payway. There’s what looks to be an army bag in second place, which pays up to 3x the total bet, and then we just have a cloud at 2x and a jet plane at 1x. Of course, you have to suffer the low pays as well – 0.75x for the Aces and Queens, 0.5x for the Queens, and 0.2x for both the ten and Jack symbols.

As for the betting range, Storm has been relatively unadventurous in this regard by opting for minimum/maximum wagering limits of €0.10 and €100.00 per spin, respectively.

Base Game & Modifiers

Who hands up who likes game shows? I’m sure it’s a pretty big percentage of our readership, so I can tell you that this machine looks and feels like a game show in many ways! The game plays much like a typical game show, blended to perfection with standard video slot gameplay that takes place on a gameshow-like background. You’ve got the Ticket to Fortune logo displayed prominently in the top right corner, alongside our radio DJ protagonist in the bottom right. Spinning the reels can award the regular paytable prizes – see above for those.

Anyway, let’s stay on point – this is a 5×3 reel video slot with 20 fixed paylines spanning the available grid area. Wins are awarded in two ways – you like lineup symbols in the conventional sense; that is, from left to right on adjacent symbols of a pay line – or you can simply hit a suitable number of scatter symbols simultaneously for an instant prize. Let’s dig deeper into some of that now:

Ticket To Fortune

The Ticket to Fortune meter runs right down the left side of the screen and has prizes available for hitting anywhere from three to nine Ticket to Fortune symbols. At the low end of the scale, you’ll only get a measly 1x your total bet back if you hit just three of these special scatters, but eight will get you 50x your total bet, and the full nine will grant you instant access to a special bonus mode – see below for details!

Ticket To Fortune Slot Bonus Features

Ticket To Fortune Free Spins Feature
Ticket to Fortune free spins feature

The bonus round is triggered by hitting three scatter symbols simultaneously, but the one you get here isn’t quite as good as the one for hitting nine Ticket to Fortune scatters! Instead of being guaranteed the maximum number of spins and multipliers, you’ll be taken to a bonus wheel where the number of spins and multiplier are decided independently.

Free Spins

Unfortunately, the free spins feature offered in Ticket to Fortune isn’t any different to the main game – sure, we do get multipliers thrown into the mix, but that’s the only difference. When it’s a 10x multiplier though, even I can forgive a fairly dull free spin feature!

Super Feature

Now this is how free spins should be done! Whether you’ll ever find yourself here is a somewhat more tenuous question! Requiring all nine tickets to get here is a very tricky proposition, but if you should be lucky enough, 30 free spins at a 10x multiplier are yours for the taking.

Pros

  • It’s not Noel Edmunds, Deal or No Deal, or Millionaire. Thank the stars!
  • Hitting 30 spins and a 10x multiplier surely has to result in some big wins.

Cons

  • Nine tickets for the best feature? That's tough.
  • Paytable prizes are low, even for a 20-line slot.

Final Thoughts

The visuals of Alchemy didn’t grab me, but many of the features on offer here have already proven to make for a highly successful game for other developers in the past. If mid to lower-variance games are your thing, then this isn’t a bad one to try.
