Train To Seoul (Pragmatic Play) Slot Demo & Review

I think I’ll start with a fun fact, as I’m not sure all of you will pick it up – but the theme to Pragmatic Play’s Train to Seoul slot game is quite obviously heavily influenced by the hit South Korean movie ‘Train to Busan’ released in 2016. It’s actually very good and one of the best Zombie movies I’ve seen recently – so check it out if you’re okay with watching along with subtitles. It’s basically about a zombie breakout on a train – in case you hadn’t guessed that for yourselves. I’m not sure this is a slot we’ll see in Western iGaming markets; however, we’re not really missing out as we already have an identical slot, Zeus Vs Hades: Gods of War – though, as the title suggests, with a different theme. Train to Seoul has the same 5×5 reel configuration with 15 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96.07% and a max win of 15,000x the be.

As with the aforementioned Norse Gods-themed slot, your journey starts with a decision – the volatility you’d like to play with. You can choose from a high variance by picking the male character or a very high volatility by going with the female character. You can switch between these during your session – so your initial choice is not binding. Next, there are expanding wild multipliers that can land anywhere on the reels and boost combos they help to create by up to 100x. Those expanding multiplier wilds also play a part in the free spins bonus – but this time, they remain sticky on the reels until the end of the feature.

So, who will you go for? Will you go for a better chance of triggering the free spins bonus but smaller wins on average from that feature – or vice versa? You can test your results from either option by playing the free-to-play Train to Seoul demo slot below!

Train To Seoul Slot Paytable

As I mentioned in the intro, Train to Seoul is inspired by the Train to Buhan zombie movie. The film is about a train from Seoul to Buhan that experiences an outbreak of zombies, with the main characters doing their best to survive. This slot has the train; although it’s heading to Seoul rather than away from it, the zombies, and even the characters look similar, too. In fairness, I actually prefer this theme to the overused Norse Gods theme of the slot it is a clone of – but it also got me thinking about what other zombie-themed slots we have available to us. There have been a few good ones; for instance, Zombie Apopalypse from AvatarUX earned a good score from my colleague here at Demoslot, whilst Spartans vs Zombies from Stakelogic is another strong shout if you’re into video game style online slots.

The next destination of this slot review is the paytable, and there are zombies everywhere, a fair bit of blood, and various other symbols related to this horrific story. The Wild symbols, which, as I’ll get into, have other powers and share the top payout with your chosen main character, with both paying 20x the stake for five of a kind win. Two Zombies are next and share a top payout of 10x the stake, while two more Undead Characters follow with equal returns of 5x. The Barbed Wire Baseball Bat, First Aid Kit, Torch, Fire Extinguisher, and Crowbar represent the lower pays and all award 1x the stake for a winning combination of five.

Pragmatic Play likes to keep its betting range nice and simple, and that is the case once again, as you can use the plus and minus symbols to pick between a €minimum stake of €0.10 rising to a maximum of €100.00.

Train To Seoul Slot Base Game & Modifiers

Train To Seoul Slot Base Game

Before considering your ideal bet, you must decide the variance level you want to play at. Choosing the male character promises a better chance of triggering the free spins bonus but with likely smaller returns. In comparison, the female character has a lower chance of triggering the spins but a better chance of winning more. You can switch between the modes as you go along, so I wouldn’t worry too much about which you go for initially. As for the reel layout, there are 15 fixed paylines across 5 reels and 5 rows, and the aim is to land a minimum of three matching symbols from left to right to form a winning combo and be awarded a payout.

Expanding Wilds

The colour of the wild symbols differs depending on which character/volatility you choose, but regardless of the colour, they perform the same action. When they land on the reels during the base game or the free spins bonus, they’ll expand to fill their reels, and your chosen character will then fight a zombie to determine the size of the multiplier that will be attached to it, ranging from 2x to 100x in value.

Train To Seoul Slot Bonus Features

Train To Seoul Slot Free Spins Feature
Train to Seoul slot free spins feature

The main bonus game is the same no matter which character you choose to go with, and that free spins bonus is activated once a scatter symbol lands on each of the first, third, and fifth reels, awarding 10 free spins.

Free Spins Feature

Whilst the free spins are active, the expanding multiplier wilds are sticky on the reels until the end of the feature. As you can imagine, if you can land a few of these, especially ones that contain higher value multipliers, you could be looking at some big wins that get you near that max win of 15,000x bet.

Bonus Buy

Players in jurisdictions where bonus buy features are permitted can choose from the following options:

  • Male Standard Free Spins: Costs 75x the bet.
  • Female Standard Free Spins: Costs 150x the bet.
  • Both Characters – Super Free Spins with One Guaranteed Expanding Wild: Costs 300x the bet.

Pros

  • Having a choice of volatility is always welcome.
  • Another well-presented Pragmatic Play slot game.

Cons

  • A clone of Zeus Vs Hades: Gods of War.

Train To Seoul Slot Review Final Thoughts

We gave Zeus Vs Hades: Gods of War a decent score, so it would look a tad off if I didn’t give an almost identical slot a similar one - although I have to knock off some points simply because Train to Seoul is a clone.
