This game looked immediately familiar when I first fired it up, and a quick search of our review library soon revealed why! Pocket Games Soft (or PG Soft, as they are often referred to) has released a very similar title to this one before, known as Prosperity Fortune Tree. Whilst that game offered 4,096 pay ways, however, Tree of Fortune is a tamer affair with just 30 pay lines on a smaller playfield. The jackpot is also halved but is still a respectable 10,000x the total bet, whilst the RTP of 96.23% is a touch above the industry average.
Tree of Fortune looks a lot like Prosperity Fortune Tree visually – it’s almost like a little brother to PGSoft’s older title, with three rows rather than four, which explains the drop in the number of payways. More importantly, however, Tree of Fortune has a much more interesting feature set, including a ‘custom re-spins mode which allows you to pay to spin individual reels independently. I remember seeing similar features to this in some older Microgaming slots – it’s a risky proposition but certainly a fun one at the same time! Like most PGSoft games, the main bonus round is a standard free spins feature, with very little in the way of surprises.

Tree Of Fortune Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The theme of Tree of Fortune is bright and colourful, with a strong emphasis on the Chinese traditions surrounding trees as being objects of both strength and luck. It’s very similar to the previous PG Soft game Prosperity Fortune Tree, as I mentioned in the opening paragraphs – it’s a nice looking game, but it seems a little pointless considering that the same developer has already produced an almost identical machine with a larger jackpot! Still, Tree of Fortune may well find an audience in slots fans who prefer their games to be a little less insane in terms of variance!
The highest-paying symbol on the paytable of Tree of Fortune is the red packet, which is worth 50x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. The golden bells are next, paying roughly 27x for all five symbols, whilst the Chinese lantern is worth 17x for a full payline. Another Chinese symbol will get you 10x your bet back in winnings, after which there are four more low-paying royal symbols with payouts ranging between 5x for five aces to 1x for five jacks. The wild and scatter symbols do not have any cash payouts associated with them, unfortunately.
Choosing your bet level is performed using a set of three selectors – first, a coin size must be chosen from 0.01, 0.05, 0.15, or 1.25. Next, a bet level between one and ten will multiply the number of coins you bet per line. Combining all selectors allows minimum/maximum bets between €0.30 and €125.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Tree of Fortune revolves around a typical 5×3 video slot layout with 30 fixed paylines. You’ll need at least three matching symbols starting from the leftmost reel to score yourself a win, but it’s the red packets that you’re really going to be hoping to hit!
Red Packets Feature
Red packet symbols can appear anywhere on all five reels and will fly up into the Tree of Fortune each time they land. Red packets may choose to pick a new spot in the branches of the tree or could opt to join an existing red packet which will cause it to increase in size. A red packet joined in this way increases in level to a maximum of five. Up to five packets can be present in the tree at any time, and each packet can be worth up to five free spins when the bonus round is triggered.
Tree Of Fortune Slot Bonus Features
Bonus ‘shake’ scatter symbols appear on reels two, three, and four only, and you’ll need to hit all three of these to trigger a set of free spins. Let’s take a look at how the feature plays out below.
Free Spins
During the bonus round, you’ll be given a chance to shake the tree of fortune to win cash prizes. Each time you shake the tree, you can reveal up to eight golden packets, of which you are entitled to open any three you like to see what win is inside. Golden packets can sometimes grant you extra picks and can even refill the entire tree with a new set of golden packets. The feature ends if you run out of picks or deplete the entire tree of golden packets!

- No dedicated desktop mode – I know the developer's name is Pocket Games Soft, but would it really hurt to let desktop players have a better-looking view?
- The bonus round can sometimes be over as fast as it has begun – those huge jackpots have to be paid for somehow, after all!
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed the last Prosperity Fortune Tree game, and this one makes a nice alternative – paylines suit some players better than payways, and the jackpot of 10,000x is still more than large enough to attract high variance slots fans. There’s not much new to see here if you’ve already played the original game though.
