Viking Fury Spinfinity (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

I happened to catch a glimpse of a couple of the other early reviews of the latest release from Blueprint Gaming, and I must say – they were fascinating. See, according to one such review, the Vikings were more interested in tending crops and chilling out around the campfire than marauding across Scandinavia and Great Britain, plundering and pillaging everything in sight. I have no proof that this opinion is incorrect, but popular culture certainly does present a very different view of what made the Viking’s tick! Blueprint evidently prefers the latter possibility too, if Viking Fury Spinfinity is anything to go by, a new scatter-paying grid slot which boasts a 96% RTP alongside a 10,000x stake jackpot.

The headline feature of Viking Fury Spinfinity is the eponymous Spinfinity feature that is activated whenever a winning combination forms on the reel set. Eagle-eyed readers may have already spotted the compass, which is built into the game’s spin button – this is the key to the Spinfinity feature, as the direction it points is used to determine which way your winning symbols will move. There’s also a Viking Fury modifier, capable of adding multipliers to the winnings achieved from any base game spin, a joint wild/scatter symbol, and a free spin-based bonus round which guarantees the activation of the Viking Fury modifier every time it begins. A bonus bet option adds 25% to the cost of each spin in return for a tripling of the odds of hitting a bonus round.

Viking Fury Spinfinity Slot Paytable

The Egyptians are almost certainly the most common ancient civilisation used as the basis for an online slot, but the Vikings probably aren’t too far behind! We’ve reviewed scores of titles based on the famous Scandinavian seafaring people in the past, which Wikipedia credits with having raided, pirated, and plundered throughout Europe between the late 8th and 11th centuries. This friendly-sounding group of undoubtedly kind, generous, and polite folk were the stars of Inspired’s Lightning Viking, Relax Gaming’s Volatile Vikings series, and even Blueprint’s own Vikings Unleashed Megaways, amongst others. That last one was a 9/10 machine by our rankings, which does make me wonder why the developer hasn’t chosen to publish a sequel rather than come up with a whole new IP – perhaps Unleashed didn’t attain the popularity that we felt it deserved?

Scatter-pay slots are still relatively new but have proven to be especially popular with both seasoned slot fans and newcomers alike. In comparison with grid slots that use a cluster-pays mechanic, the paytables featured in games such as Viking Fury Spinfinty are extremely simple. Each symbol has just three payout levels for hitting 8/9, 10/11, and 12 or more of them. The most valuable of the bunch is the Viking, who awards 50x the total bet whenever 12 or more appear anywhere on the playfield. That’s a bit of an outlier though unfortunately; the helm drops down to just 10x the total bet for 12+ matching symbols, followed by 5x for the hammer, 4x for the horn, and 3x for the axe. Runes have been used for the four low-paying symbols, which can pay between 0.6x and 2x the total bet depending on their colour.

The available betting range starts at €0.20 per spin. At the bottom end of the scale, there are plenty of other options available, but as is typically the case, those with deeper pockets may find themselves frustrated by the acute lack of accepted wagers as you approach the maximum permitted bet of €20.00 per round.

Base Game & Modifiers

Viking Fury Spinfinity Slot Base Game

If you’re a devoted slots fan like myself, I suspect Viking Fury Spinfinity will feel incredibly familiar to you within a minute or two of beginning to play! This is no coincidence, as the mechanics of the game have undoubtedly been lifted directly from previous hugely successful scatter-pay machines such as Starlight Princess. It’s not unusual for a popular game to be copied by competing developers, of course, and Blueprint has at least added a few new elements to the established formula when creating this machine.

Spinfinity

The compass is a key element of what makes this game unique and will activate whenever a winning combination on the reel set. The compass’s direction is used to determine which way the winning symbols will move after your payout has been evaluated. After this takes place, the game will check again to see if the symbol’s new positions result in a further win. The Spinfinity feature will continue until no more wins are generated.

Viking Fury Multipliers

This is a modifier which can trigger randomly on any spin and works in tandem with the Spinfinity feature. Whenever the reels make a step in any direction, the Viking Fury Multiplier will increase by 1x. At the end of the Spinfinity feature, the accumulated multiplier is applied to your total win.

Bonus Bet

Many slots ask you to pay 50% or even 100% more per spin to activate their bonus bet functionality, which makes the 25% cost of this one feel very reasonable! The paytable states that there is no difference in terms of the resulting RTP when playing with the bonus bet turned on, but I’d say that a 300% increase in the number of bonus rounds played is probably a good enough reason to turn this option on.

Viking Fury Spinfinity Slot Bonus Features

The Viking longboat symbol is used as both the wild and the scatter in Viking Fury Spinfiity, but you will need to land at least four of them to trigger 12 free spins. If the triggering spin includes more than four symbols, the extra ones will be collected and carried into the bonus round.

Free Spins

At the start of every set of free spins, the Viking Fury modifier will be invoked, adding multipliers to the playfield. During free spins, those multipliers are not removed from the reels until they have been included as part of a winning combination.

If you were lucky enough to have any bonus symbols carried over from the base game when entering the free spins feature, these might contribute towards winning some additional spins – three more will be added to your counter for every four bonus symbols you collect.

Bonus Buy

Those who can activate the bonus buy menu in the game have two choices available to them:

  • Standard Free Spins: Costs 100x bet to trigger.
  • Ultimate Fury Free Spins with Mystery Symbols: Costs 350x bet to trigger.

Pros

  • Excellent presentation with well-drawn graphics and smooth animations.
  • The jackpot of 10,000x the total stake feels very fair, considering the regular symbol payouts and the potential of the bonus round.
  • Scatter-pay games are simple to understand, yet not simplistic – if you haven’t tried this style of slot yet, then you totally should!

Cons

  • Fans of existing scatter-pay games such as Starlight Princess may find little here to excite them.
  • I would have preferred a more balanced range of payouts on the paytable – as it stands, an enormous portion of the available RTP is tied up in just one high-paying symbol.

Final Thoughts

For me, the addition of the Viking Fury modifier and Spinfinity feature is plenty enough to separate this game from the competition. Then again, I can’t deny that I’m hugely fond of scatter-pay slots, which may bias my views on games such as this to an extent! Be that as it may, I’d certainly recommend that you give Viking Fury Spinfinity a few spins, as I believe this game deserves to be a hit for Blueprint.
