Vikings Creed Demo Slot (Slotmill) Slot Demo & Review

I’ve had a blast trying a bunch of Slotmill’s games over the past few weeks – it’s always great when you find a new developer that produces slots that you enjoy. There is a downside to this, of course – you can end up finding a bunch more titles which you don’t enjoy as well! There have been highs and lows on my quest to learn more about Slotmill, but I was still excited to check out their Vikings Creed online slot. The 20-pay line game has an average RTP of 96.03% and a reasonable maximum win of 5,000x stake – but is it fun to play?

As soon as I begun to spin the reels of Vikings Creed, I spotted a wild symbol making its way from the right of the screen to the left – a so-called “Walking Wild”, just like the Jack & The Beanstalk games by NetEnt. Slotmill have taken the feature further too, by adding a “Wild Berserk” feature that can add up to five of these walking wilds to the screen. A free spin-based bonus round is also included which adds expanding wilds to the party too.

Is this just a clone of NetEnt’s Jack & The Beanstalk games? I will let you decide – fire up our free demo slot of Vikings Creed below and make your own mind up!

Vikings Creed Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Paytable For Vikings Creed Slot

I could genuinely be here for weeks if I got started talking about all the fantastic viking-themed slots out there! Microgaming were probably the first developer to kick off the trend with their Thunderstruck online slots, but every developer has given this theme a try by now. Yggdrasil have been one of the most prolific developers of this type of game, producing hits such as “Vikings Go Berzerk” and “Vikings Go to Hell”, along with Play’N’Go who created an excellent grid slot in “Viking Runecraft”. Norse mythology just seems to be a hit with consumers whether it be in movies, video games, or online slots – it just doesn’t seem to matter. Perhaps there really isn’t anything better than a good story?

I had been enjoying spinning Vikings Creed for a little while before deciding to peek at the paytable – my balance seemed to be holding roughly steady, but I hadn’t won anything huge yet. I was surprised to see that Slotmill have decided to include a payoff for hitting the scatter symbols in their Vikings Creed slot game – a rarity for this developers’ machines. The payoff is only 100x your stake for all five, dropping to 10x for four and 3x for three, but it’s still much better than nothing. A full pay line of five kings also returns 100x your bet, whilst his female companion will give you 50x your stake when hitting five-of-a-kind. Thor’s Hammer makes an appearance next, tied with a Viking longboat for third place in the rankings as both symbols pay 12.5x for all five. The last of the “high-paying” symbols is a shield, which pays 6.25x your stake.

There is a decent spread of wager options, starting at €0.20 per spin as the minimum bet and reaching a maximum of €50.00 per spin if you are feeling particularly crazy!

Base Game & Modifiers

Win Up To 5,000x Your Bet As You Play Across 5 Reels And 20 Paylines In Vikings Creed Online Slot From Game Provider Slotmill

Slotmill have used all kinds of reel setups and payout mechanics in their games but have gone back to basics with Vikings Creed by utilising a 5×3 layout and 20 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for hitting three or more matching symbols starting from the left-hand side of the screen, and all prizes are doubled if the combination includes at least one wild symbol. When a wild does make an appearance, it will also trigger a series of free re-spins, as explained below:

Walking Wild Modifier

Whenever a wild lands on the screen it will trigger the walking wild feature, regardless of whether it initially formed part of a winning pay line. The walking wild feature awards a free re-spin before which any wild symbols in view will move one position to the left. The free re-spins will continue until no more wilds are visible on the screen, which means you can potentially receive up to five free re-spins when a wild lands on the fifth reel.

Wild Berserk Modifier

This feature can trigger randomly on any base game spin, adding up to five wild symbols to the reels before your round completes. These wilds will then become walking wilds as detailed above, and you can win some huge prizes if the wild berserk feature happens to position your wilds in the best way. I had mixed results during testing – sometimes all the symbols would cluster on the left, whilst other times they would spread out nicely across the reels. In other words, it feels quite random, which is of course only fair.

Vikings Creed Slot Free Spins Feature

Land At Least 3 Scatter Symbols During Your Base Game Play On Vikings Creed And The Free Spins Bonus Feature Will Be Activated

I had been playing Vikings Creed for quite a while before I hit my first bonus round. This could have just been bad luck on my part, but this trend seemed to continue for the duration that I was testing the game – free spin features just don’t seem very common in Vikings Creed video slot. You’ll need three or more scatters to trigger the bonus round, but thankfully it is a high-paying and exciting feature when it shows.

During the free spins feature any wilds which land on screen will expand to cover the entire reel. These expanded wilds will then begin to move towards the left, just as in the walking wild feature of the base game.

This makes it much easier to win on many pay lines simultaneously during the bonus round, and your bonus round can also last a very long time if wilds continue to appear, and you continue to receive further free re-spins.

Vikings Creed Slot Review Final Thoughts

This is another fantastic release by Slotmill which obviously takes a reasonable amount of inspiration from NetEnt’s Jack and the Beanstalk games but adds enough new features to keep it feeling fresh. The 5,000x maximum win cap is a little bit low, but it is so much fun that overall, it is impossible not to recommend Vikings Creed.
