Vikings Unleashed Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Slots based on the Vikings are frequently lumped together with those associated with Norse mythology, as both are believed to have originated from the North Germanic ethnic group known as the Norsemen. Whilst our review library includes numerous Viking-themed slots, such as Volatile Vikings 2 Dream Drop, it is absolutely bursting with Norse mythology-themed games! From a graphical standpoint, Vikings Unleashed Megaways compares extremely favourably with these earlier releases, but it is a little disappointing that the feature set offers so little over and above what was available in the Big Time Gaming slot Extra Chilli. In all fairness though, it would be easy to direct this same criticism towards countless Megaways licenses released over the past few years.
The high-paying symbols are all modelled on Viking characters, the most valuable of which is carrying a golden arrow and has a return of 50x the total bet whenever a full payway of six of a kind forms on the reels. A stereotypical Viking, complete with horns and a ginger beard, takes the second-place spot, and he has a payout of 7.5x the total bet whenever all six of his symbols line up on the playfield. The final two high pays feature a female character and an older gentleman, which share a return of 2x the bet for a complete payway. Finally, there are six low-paying royal symbols, which feature rewards of between 0.8x and 1.75x the total bet for a six of a kind winning combination.
Unfortunately, this is yet another game that suffers from the familiar issue of having an extremely limited number of stakes available. The minimum/maximum bets of €0.10 and €10.00, respectively, are unlikely to cause a problem for most players, but the fact there are just seven intermediate options certainly could.
Vikings Unleashed Megaways Slot Base Game
Moving on to the base game, Vikings Unleashed uses the familiar Megaways configuration of six reels plus one more horizontal reel that appears above reels two through five. The first and last reels can divide into up to seven rows on each spin, whilst reels two through five will only split into six segments each as a result of the additional horizontal reel. The top-paying Viking symbol can award a prize for just two matching symbols starting from the leftmost reel, whilst all other symbols require at least three matches to award a win.
Mystery Symbols
All six columns include several mystery symbols on their reel strips. Whenever one or more of these symbols are visible at the end of a spin, a random symbol is selected from the paytable. All instances of the mystery symbol will simultaneously transform into the chosen symbol before your winnings are evaluated.

Bonus scatter symbols appear on all six reels, but you’ll need to hit at least four on a single spin to trigger the free spin bonus round. Twelve free spins are awarded for the minimum four-scatter trigger, plus five additional spins for each extra scatter symbol. Note that scatters can appear as part of an initial spin sequence or as the result of a symbol-removal phase triggered by winning payway combinations.
Free Spins
The free spins feature normally begins with a 1x current round multiplier. However, it is possible to gamble for a starting multiplier of up to 10x using the gamble wheel, which appears before the bonus round.
