Game Overview
When you play as many online slots as I do, you’ll know that Blueprint Gaming is a real fan of making Megaways slots by now. As in, a REAL fan – there was a period where almost every game they created was a Megaways title. Voodoo Temple online slot is actually only being published by Blueprint, with the development duties having been handled by a different developer named Lucksome. And you know what? It’s real nice to see them doing something that isn’t Megaways. Their Voodoo Temple slot game uses the ever-popular 243-ways payout mechanic, a 96.5% RTP (increasing to 97% if you use the bonus buy feature), and a maximum win of 20,000x your bet.
There’s a fair few information pages, suggesting that there could be plenty of features to talk about here, but much of the space is used up with general information and the like. Three masks to the right of the reels contain random multipliers which are increased whenever wild symbols land in view, a feature which is particularly useful during the free spin feature where the multipliers can be boosted by 10x-50x

Voodoo Temple Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Voodoo, witches, wizards – they kind of all come under the same theme as far as online slots go, don’t they? We’ve seen lots of online slots centred around mixing potions to produce spells which then go on to multiply your winnings, but this one has a distinctly dark feel to it. The “High Priestess” character has glowing red eyes for a start, which is spooky enough, but the pentagram-shaped scatter, chilling background music, and the evil looking masks all add up to create some serious underworld vibes. The presentation is really very well done and all glues together very nicely – top marks for this aspect of Voodoo Temple video slot.
I always temper my expectations when viewing the paytable of a 243-way based online slot. The big trick in most of these games is to win on lots of pay ways at once, and in Voodoo Temple you also have a possible multiplier of up to 50x to think about in your calculations too; bottom line, don’t be too disappointed by the numbers shown on the paytable. They won’t figure too much into your final winning’s potential. The pentagram scatter pays just 1x, 2x, or 5x for three, four, or five-of-a-kind, which seems kind of pointless really. The top paying symbol is the High Priestesses head (glowing eyes intact), paying 10x your stake for all five on a pay way, followed by 5x for the voodoo doll, 3x for the cauldron, and 1.5x for the ram’s head or magic potion. The lower value symbols are represented by various crystal’s, and all pay very little.
There’s a huge range of bets available in Voodoo Temple, from €0.10 at the bottom end of the scale all the way up to €100.00 for the seriously crazy high rolling crowd. In what seems to be a common theme, however, there are very few steps at the top end of this scale – I guess the thinking is that the kind of player who is willing to bet more than €25.00 every couple of seconds on an online slot isn’t really that concerned with whether he can play at €30.00 or €35.00, but jumping straight from €25 to €50, €75, and €100 does seem a little bit much. I’d love to know the statistics on how many players actually use these mega high-stake options, but sadly this isn’t something that anyone is required to publish.
Base Game & Modifiers
All gameplay takes place on a regular 5×3 grid – keep in mind that the masks on the right-hand side are not part of the reels, despite the fact they can appear to blend in a little bit on some displays. Wins are paid for any line up of matching symbols from left to right anywhere on the reels.
Wild Multiplier Features
The Shadow Priestess as she is referred to in the game’s information pages will occasionally activate shadow mode, during which any wilds that land on the screen increase the values of the multipliers shown to the right of the reels. These are reset after each bonus round, though it is possible to build them up to some quite impressive levels if it takes a while for the feature to drop.
The only issue is getting them applied to your winnings – this only occurs during “shadow spins”, or occasionally at random when a spin completes with a wild symbol on view. All in all, the wild multipliers are a great feature during the bonus round, but a bit of a damp squib during base gameplay.
Voodoo Temple Slot Free Spins Feature
The games marquee feature is a free spin-based bonus round which is triggered when three or more of the pentagram scatter symbols land on screen at once. The more scatters you catch, the more free spins you will be awarded, but you also get to choose from three volatility options depending on your attitude towards risk as well. Note that wild symbols are stacked during free spins as well – I was confused by this when I first began playing as it appeared that the high priestess was expanding during the free spin mode, but apparently this is not the case, and I must have had an unusually lucky first feature with lots of stacked wild symbols.
Low & Medium Volatility Free Spin Features
Three scatters will award 12 low volatility free spins or nine medium volatility ones. The only difference between these two modes is that the High Priestess wild will award a slightly different multiplier value if you catch several of them on screen on a single spin. If you fail to hit any priestess wilds at all, the low volatility spins award a 2x multiplier whilst the medium volatility spins increase this to 3x.
During these spins, any spin which completes with a wild symbol in view has a chance for the high priestess to cast either a multiplier boosting spell of up to 10x the currently shown figures to the right of the reels, or alternatively, she can occasionally activate shadow mode, which will then be activated for the remainder of your bonus round.
Shadow Free Spin Feature
If you have the guts, the best feature is reserved for those who are willing to trade their three scatter symbols for just five free games, or five scatter symbols for 12 free games. During this feature, the shadow mode is enabled on every spin, meaning that all winnings will be multiplied by amounts ranging from 2x to 5x for a single priestess (one priestess will always land in shadow spins), all the way to 8x – 50x when three princess symbols happen to land on a single spin.
This is where the big money is for sure, but I still kind of struggle to work out how you could possibly win up to 20,000x your bet from this feature? The introduction screen mentions a “win focus” of 1,000x, which sounds about right, so perhaps it is more a case of 20,000x is the maximum you might win as the sum of a shadow bonus round?
As a brand-new game, there isn’t enough evidence around just yet to say for sure, but I can report my own experiences of hitting 151x, 267x, and 194x from three of my own tests of the shadow free spins feature.
Bonus Buy Feature
Jurisdictions where the bonus buy option is available will present players with the following 3 choices if they wish to access the free games instantly.
- 3 Scatter Trigger: 115x bet to buy.
- 4 Scatter Trigger: 150x bet to buy.
- 5 Scatter Trigger: 300x bet to buy.
Voodoo Temple Slot Review Final Thoughts
It’s not ground-breaking in any way, but it sure is a lot of fun! The theme is bound to appeal to a certain demographic in a definitive way, and whilst I don’t count myself as one of those people, I would still consider giving this game a few spins for real money as soon as it goes on general release. I’m also looking forward to playing more titles from “Lucksome”, the company that Blueprint partnered with on this release. I think they could potentially have a bright future.
