Thankfully, we do get a much more thorough breakdown of the game’s features, starting with a mystery symbol feature that works in the usual way – all mystery symbols that land on a single spin will transform into one random symbol from the paytable once the reels stop spinning. The beehive acts as the game’s scatter and awards between five and 15 free spins, depending on the number of triggering symbols. Wild Buzz Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
It turns out that Wild Buzz is far from the first bee-themed game to hit the online slots industry – more fool me, I guess! Betsoft has previously released a game known as “The Bees”, whilst Cozy Games created a fun-looking machine titled “Honey Bees” just this year. Even NetEnt has tried its hand at the genre with their Bee Hive Bonanza online slot, and apparently, there is even a slot machine interpretation of the wildly successful Angry Bees mobile game. Well, don’t I feel silly!
Back to Wild Buzz now, and at the top of the paytable, we have the WILD BEE symbol, with a payout of 10x the current bet for every full pay line of six-of-a-kind. The highest paying regular symbol, a lady in some sort of perhaps Amazonian dress, also pays 10x the current bet for all six of her symbols, whilst a jar of honey is next and has a return of 7.5x for every completed pay line of those. The red flower is worth 5x your current stake for a six-of-a-kind combination, followed by the dark blue flower at 3.75x and the lighter blue flower at 3x. There are six lower-paying royal symbols making up the lower half of the paytable, but typically there is nothing exciting to report in terms of payouts.
The betting range runs from a minimum of €0.20 for each round and maxes out at a sensible €20.00 for every paid spin. You can also increase your odds of hitting all the games features by enabling the Super Stake feature. This includes both the free spins and Hive Respin features but is quite costly at double the usual price per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
The regular gameplay of Wild Buzz takes place on a relatively large playfield of 6×4 symbols, so the total of 40 fixed paylines feels like a sensible number given that arrangement. Many games which use a grid of this size use pay ways instead of pay lines, which does make sense in some respects, but also forces developers to award smaller prizes.
Wild Bees
Each time the bee symbol lands on the reels, it not only acts as a wild which substitutes for other symbols to help you form winning combinations but is also collected into the hive for later use.
Once your hive reaches its maximum capacity of 12 bees (I guess it’s a small hive!), the Hive Spin feature will be triggered, and two reels will be highlighted and locked together, ensuring they will always land identical symbols.
On top of this, up to ten wild bees will fly out of the hive – I guess two of them must stay back to keep watch – and any bees which land on the highlighted reels we just mentioned will also be duplicated onto its twin as well. Additionally, all bees that land inside the highlighted area will also increase the multiplier for the current spin, which is indicated on a ladder shown to the left of the main reel set.
Wild Buzz Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus round is triggered by hitting three or more beehive scatter symbols during the base game. Three scatter symbols will award the minimum of five free spins, whilst four, five, or six scatters will award seven, 10, or 15 free spins, respectively.
Every spin acts as a Hive Spin during this mode, as described in the “Wild Bees” paragraph in the previous section. This means that up to ten wilds will be added to every free spin, as well as locking two of the six reels together to make it easier to hit large numbers of winning pay lines.
The hive will remain full for the duration of the free spins feature, so you don’t need to worry about running out of bees to populate your wild reels. Unfortunately, the free spins feature cannot be retriggered, but I must say I found this to be a very profitable feature and had very significant returns every time I reached this part of the game!
Bonus Buy
The bonus buy feature can award five to fifteen free spins, depending on the number of triggering scatters, which is decided randomly after you make your purchase. Sadly, this feature is not available in all jurisdictions, and that is a shame with this game, as I found this bonus round to be one of the most profitable that I have come across recently.
I tried the bonus buy feature at least two dozen times and made a profit roughly three out of four times. With this in mind, I would skip the base game and use this option if it is available to you!
Wild Buzz Slot Review Final Thoughts
The presentation of Wild Buzz is only a little better than average, but the gameplay is right up there with the best online slots currently available. If you are more interested in the size of your wins than the symbols on the reels, then this is the kind of game you should be trying – I’d absolutely recommend it!
