The wild symbols included in Wild Chapo 2 have a special feature attached to them, which seems fitting considering the game title! Every winning combination that features a wild will award a free re-spin, with further re-spins continuing until the reels no longer contain any wild symbols. Each of the five reels has a special meter activated during the re-spin mode, and filling one or more of these meters will award a final super-spin before returning to the base game. The wilds also play a crucial part in the free spins feature, where they will become sticky for the duration of the bonus round. Wild Chapo 2 Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
When I first saw the title of this machine, I immediately recalled the cartel leader Chapo who has been featured in the news several times for his awe-inspiring prison breaks! In a way, I was hoping that Relax Gaming had made a slot based on that story, but I think that would probably be somewhat tasteless! Instead, Relax has opted for a light-hearted take on the Mexican theme, similar to games such as Chilli Picante Megaways. As you might expect, the reels are filled with plenty of tequila, sombreros, mules, and, of course, one crazy looking Mexican dude!
It’s time to answer the big question – how much can we win when playing Wild Chapo 2? I’m going to assume that Chapo is the angry looking Mexican, as he has the most significant return on the paytable at 20x your bet for a full payline of six of a kind. In second place, the mule will pay you 9x for all six symbols, whilst a bandana-wearing owl is worth 4.8x your bet for a complete payline. The final high-paying symbol is a dog who is carrying a key in his mouth, and he will pay you 4x your bet for six-of-a-kind. There are three medium-paying symbols, each represented by a different coloured bottle of Tequila, but all three share the same payout of 2x your bet for all six symbols. Four coloured locks act as the game’s low-paying symbols, all of which share an identical return of 1x your bet for a complete pay line.
The betting range starts at a low-roller-friendly €0.10 per spin, whilst those with larger bankrolls will appreciate the option to wager up to €50.00 on each game round if they wish. Either way, no matter the size of your bankroll, there will be something between these amounts that suits your style of play.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of Wild Chapo 2 utilises a six reel, three row playfield – only slightly bigger than the typical 5×3 setup – and yet, somehow, the reel set feels particularly large. I suspect this is because the game only uses 20 fixed paylines, despite the playfield being larger than average.
Wild Respin
Wild symbols appear on reels two through five, and any win that includes one or more of these will trigger the wild re-spin feature. In this mode, all wild symbols will display a number representing the number of times they must be included in a winning combination before they are collected. For every wild symbol collected, your prize multiplier will increase by 1x.
Re-spins will continue indefinitely until no more wild symbols are visible on the reel set, after which the game will award a final “super spin”, provided that at least one wild symbol has been collected. During the super spin, any reel which includes a collected wild be transformed into a full-height stacked wild reel.
Wild Chapo 2 Slot Bonus Features
The scatter symbol is represented by a sheriff’s badge, and hitting three or more simultaneously will trigger the main bonus round. The number of free spins awarded is determined by the number of triggering scatters; three will award seven, whilst four, five, or six will grant you 10, 15, or 25 free spins, respectively.
Free Spins
The wild re-spin feature included in the base game has a lot of potential to award a huge win, but the free spins feature is far, far more profitable than that! In this mode, every wild symbol that lands on the reels will become sticky until you have collected it.
Furthermore, if more than one wild symbol is collected on the same reel, the game will also add a multiplier to that reel. After you have played all your free spins, the game will again offer a final super spin where every reel with at least one wild collected will become a full-height stacked wild.
The free spins feature cannot be re-triggered as such, but you do win one additional free spin for every scatter symbol that lands whilst the feature is active.
Bonus Buy
Considering the enormous potential of the free spins feature, I was assuming that the bonus buy facility would be very expensive in this game. Surprisingly, Relax has priced the option at just 70x the current stake.
I’m sure I must have been lucky, as I played more than a dozen bonus rounds whilst testing this slot and made a profit on almost every one of them! Therefore, I feel this is a bargain price for such a great feature.
Wild Chapo 2 Slot Review Final Thoughts
I love all of the features included in Wild Chapo 2 – the re-spin feature in the base game would probably have been enough to keep most players entertained, so it’s amazing to discover that the bonus round is infinitely better than that! I never played the original Wild Chapo machine for real money, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one in the near future. You should do the same!
