Wild Link Zeus Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
We’ve written about the legend of Zeus before here at demoslot, but we’ll give you a quick refresher just in case you missed our earlier game reviews. Zeus is referred to as the god of the sky in ancient Greek mythology; as the chief Greek god, he was the ruler, protector, and father of all the other humans – and gods. Zeus is regularly depicted as a wise old male with a beard and is frequently represented by symbols such as a lightning bolt or eagle. Perhaps the best-known online slots to feature Zeus are the eponymous franchise by Williams (WMS), which started on the floors of land-based casinos before being migrated to the online market, where further symbols were spawned.
Such was the popularity of those games; they were later backported to physical cabinets for the land-based casino market, although I have to say I have not seen them featured anywhere for some time now. WMS has been quiet in general in recent times. However – they don’t seem to create new games with the same frequency as many other top-tier developers. SpinPlay’s take on the Zeus myth borrows several visual cues from the earlier Williams titles whilst retaining a decent amount of unique identity. I think that this solid attempt to balance the new with the old should work out well for the developer, as those who enjoyed the earlier games are likely to try this one out as well.
The payouts first appear on page five of the paytable, starting with a 10x bet return for each complete pay line of five wild symbols. This is shown with both a full stack of wilds as well as a solo single-position symbol, indicating that both are interchangeable for the purposes of winning lines. A winged horse – presumably Pegasus – is the highest-paying regular symbol at 5x your bet for five-of-a-kind, which does feel a little bit on the low side. An eagle is next, paying 4x for all five, followed by a harp and a jug, both at 3x, after which there are just six more royal symbols ranging from nine to Ace. Considering that there are only 20 pay lines in Wild Link Zeus’s base game, I wondered how SpinPlay have divided up the RTP at this point. However, there are so many features in this game that it may simply be that the base game wasn’t left with anything like the percentage it receives in most other online slots.
The betting range begins at €0.20 or a penny a line, after which you have several small increments until reaching the €2.00 mark before the jumps start to widen considerably. At the other end of the spectrum, the maximum bet for each round is €50.00.
Base Game & Modifiers
When you first begin to play the base game of Wild Link Zeus online slot, you will be presented with a standard 5×3 playfield with 20 fixed paylines. Wins are awarded in the usual way – three or matching symbols on a pay line from left to right – but all of this soon goes out the window as soon as a wild appears on the first reel:
Wild Link Feature
When any wild symbol appears on the first reel, the Wild Link feature will be triggered. Your wild symbol will expand to fill the entire reel, and three extra rows will be added to the playfield. During the free spins bonus round, this feature is enhanced further and adds six extra rows to the playfield instead. All winnings scored during the Wild Link feature can be randomly multiplied by 2x or 3x if Zeus is on your side at that time!
Expanding Reels
In addition to what is described above, the number of pay lines is increased in accordance with the current size of the playfield. The number of lines is determined as follows:
- In the base game, Wild Link Zeus features 20 pay lines
- When the reels are at the height of four, 25 pay lines will be in play
- At height five, 30 pay lines
- At height six, 35 pay lines
- At height seven, 40 pay lines
- At height eight, 45 pay lines
- At height nine, 50 pay lines
You do not have to pay any more for these additional pay lines, and stacks of wild symbols will continue expanding to always cover the entire size of each reel. I think I am starting to understand why the numbers on the paytable needed to be lower than average now!
Pick Me / Jackpot Feature
I misunderstood the meaning of this feature when I first read the paytable of Wild Link Zeus, as the paytable does not explain anything about the progressive jackpots part of the game for some reason! This isn’t a typical Pick Me feature but a jackpot feature that can only be triggered from the base game.
The jackpots are not progressives but fixed prizes that are calculated as a multiple of your current stake. Making it to the jackpot screen does not guarantee to win a prize in this instance – you still need to pick three matching bonus symbols to win the corresponding jackpot.
The Mini jackpot is worth 20x your current bet, whilst the Minor pays 50x, the Major pays 500x, and the MEGA pays a whopping 5,000x your stake.
Wild Link Zeus Slot Free Spins Feature
And finally! With all that base game action, you could potentially understand if SpinPlay had omitted a free spin feature in their Wild Link Zeus video slot, but no, these guys are on the ball! You’ll need three bonus symbols to win ten free spins, which benefit from even more unique elements.
During this mode, a random reel will be transformed into a wild prize reel on each spin. You’ll be glad to know that reel one cannot become the wild prize reel, as that would prevent you from landing a wild to trigger the expanding reels. The wild prize reel will only ever contain stacks of wildfire orbs and can help to score a few payline wins.
I wish a bonus buy feature had been included so that I could have tested this feature out a few more times, as my results were inconsistent and inconclusive during testing.

This feels like a solid effort from SpinPlay – tonnes of features ensure that there is never a dull moment as you play Wild Link Zeus. Even though the headline figures on the paytable sound as if they aren’t all that exciting, you will soon find that they don’t represent your actual results very well. Once the expanded reels kick in along with the additional pay lines, the returns can be extremely attractive. This is a game I’ll be looking out for at my favourite online casinos after its release next month!
