The title Wish Upon a Jackpot is obviously a spin on the title of the well-known song that first appeared in the 1940 version of Disney’s animated film Pinocchio. It doesn’t make much sense to me, if I’m honest, but that hasn’t stopped the game from being a massive hit for Blueprint Gaming, with versions appearing not just online but also in arcades and land-based casinos. We’ll be looking exclusively at the online casino version today though, a 5-reel 20 payline slot that offers a 95.26% RTP. As for the maximum win, things get a little confusing in that respect – the rules page mentions that there is a 50,000x stake cap from a single game round, but I’m not sure how you would ever get there, considering that the most generous feature only offers 1,000x the bet as its highest prize.
Blueprint often likes to include a range of features in their slots, and Wish Upon a Jackpot is another such game where one bonus round was deemed nowhere near enough! A ‘fairy godmother spin’ can trigger randomly during any game round; when this occurs, you’ll be asked to pick from several magical orbs, which can cause one of three modifiers to activate, a bonus round to be awarded, or a guaranteed winning spin. Hitting the bonus scatter symbols causes a different pick-me game to trigger, where you’ll be asked to select one of four fairy tale books. Each book has a different story inside with an accompanying bonus round, so it will probably take some time for you to experience everything this machine offers!

Wish Upon A Jackpot Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
You might think that fairytales – effectively children’s stories – would be a bad fit for online slot machines, but it doesn’t seem that the developers of these games feel that way. Take a look at our review library, and you’ll find dozens of fairytale-inspired online slots such as A Winter’s Tale, Robin Hood’s Heroes, and Megaways Jack and the Magic Beans. Out of all of these games, Wish Upon a Jackpot stands out to me for its whimsical graphical style, the inclusion of several fairy tale-based bonus rounds, and, of course – its soundtrack!
The prizes shown on the paytable are given in coins and are based on the minimum bet. I’m not too keen on this – it would be much better if the prizes were displayed according to the currently selected stake. That fact aside, the highest-paying symbol is the wild frog, worth 25x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind, a slight premium above the game logo symbol, which awards 20x the bet for all five. The harp and glass slipper share equal payouts of 12.5x the stake for a complete payline, whilst the Disney-inspired castle will top up your bankroll with 15x should you manage to hit all five of those. That just leaves us with the low-paying royal symbols, which are divided into two groups, with the Ace/King awarding 0.5x for all five symbols and the Queen/Jack/Ten being much less valuable, still at just 0.2x each.
The betting range has sensible minimum/maximum limits of €0.20 and €20.00 per spin, respectively, but the top end of the range doesn’t have too many options to choose from – yet again, this is another game with horrible ambiguous restrictions on how much you can bet I’m afraid.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Wish Upon a Jackpot revolves around a standard layout with five reels of three rows each. The playfield is spanned by 20 fixed paylines, and you will need to hit at least three matching symbols starting from the leftmost reel to win yourself a prize.
Fairy Godmother Bonus
Whenever the Fairy Godmother appears during a round, there is a chance that the Fairy Godmother Bonus will activate. Take note of that word ‘chance’ though – sometimes she will show up just to tease you, which can be incredibly frustrating! Assuming she does decide to bless you with her power, you’ll be asked to pick from several magical orbs to determine which feature she will grant you.
- Puss in Boots Modifier that can jump out of any symbol and transform adjacent positions into wilds.
- Pinnochio Wild modifier, which can transform multiple positions into additional wild symbols.

Wish Upon A Jackpot Slot Bonus Features
Bonus scatter symbols appear on reels one, three, and five only, and you’ll need to hit all three of those to trigger the feature. You’ll then be asked to pick from one of four fairy tale books to decide on the bonus round that will be awarded.
Bonus Rounds
- Three Little Pigs: After each free spin, the three little pigs may turn random positions into wilds. Wilds remain in their position until the big bad wolf arrives and blows them away – sometimes, this can happen immediately after they land, whereas other times, they will remain sticky for several spins.
- Rapunzel Free Spins: An ‘unlimited’ free spins feature that sees a gallant knight climbing the tower to try and reach Rapunzel! The further up the tower you get, the higher you’re multiplier will go – the bonus ends if you make it to the top and save Rapunzel.
- Jack & The Beanstalk: This trail bonus is heavily reminiscent of the Road to Riches from the hugely popular Rainbow Riches slot franchise. Revealing a ‘collect’ symbol will cause the bonus to end immediately, whilst the ‘golden goose’ symbol can sometimes appear and guarantee a huge payout. The paytable states this can reach as high as 1,000x the total bet.
- Rumpelstiltskin’s Deal Maker Bonus: This is a strange one! Rumpelstiltskin will offer you a contract consisting of a bonus cash prize or a mystery bonus. You can either sign or accept, but beware – he’s a sneaky so-and-so, and declining his offer too many times could see you walking away with nothing!
Pros
- Attractive and well-executed theme with bright colours and plenty of fairytale stories
- The highest-paying regular symbol is stacked on all five reels
- It will take some time for you to experience all of the included bonus rounds and features.
Cons
- I don’t think that a 50,000x win is even remotely possible – the 1,000x mentioned for the Jack and the Beanstalk bonus looks to be the biggest realistically achievable payout
- It’s super-frustrating when the fairy godmother shows up and doesn’t trigger her bonus feature! Does anybody really appreciate this kind of ‘teasing’?
Final Thoughts
Fans of Disney’s Pinocchio are likely to enjoy trying to win all of the different modifiers and features available in Wish Upon a Jackpot. It’s just a shame that the top prize isn’t a little bit larger, but fans of lower-variance slots should certainly add this game to their list.
