Wolf Blaze Megaways Slot (Microgaming) Slot Demo & Review

We’ve seen a whole bunch of wolf-themed games released by online slot developers in recent months, and I think I may have finally worked out why that is. Look closely at the symbols contained within the reels of Fortune Factory’s new Wolf Blaze Megaways online slot, and you may spot a few uncanny similarities – all of the animals featured here have been copied one-to-one from Aristocrat’s Buffalo Gold! My theory, therefore, is that all of these Wolf-themed games are a slightly less blatant attempt at cloning the Buffalo franchise – does anybody care to convince me otherwise?! Like most other Megaways slots, Wolf Blaze Megaways features up to 117,649 payways alongside a 95.98% RTP and a top win of 18,164x the player’s stake.

This six-reel game has an additional horizontal reel located directly above reels two through five, and this is the only place where wild symbols can appear. All winning combinations are immediately removed from the playfield after they land. If you hit several consecutive wins, you may be lucky enough to get a chance at the Jackpot Pick game, with prizes ranging between 15x and 5,000x the total bet! The main bonus round is a re-triggerable free spins affair with a progressive multiplier feature, similar to those you have most likely seen in countless other Megaways games.

I have to be honest – this game doesn’t; have many unique or innovative features, but it’s a solid Megaways machine that is certain to appeal to fans of the genre. Check it out for yourself with our free demo slot of Wolf Blaze Megaways, available to play below:

Wolf Blaze Megaways Slot Paytable
Wolf Blaze Megaways slot paytable

Are you afraid of the Big Bad Wolf (Megaways)? No! How about the Greedy Wolf? Or the Cyber Wolf? What about the Wolf Legend (Megaways) !? He must be scary, right? He’s meant to be a legend! The funny thing about these wolf-themed games is just how little they have to do with wolves! I genuinely believe that all of these games are intended to be Buffalo Gold clones, right down to the near-identical-looking symbols that they all use. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing – Buffalo Gold is a great machine – the problem is that there are so many clones out there at this point that it’s just getting ridiculous! Wolf Blaze is a well-presented slot, but it isn’t the best-looking game of the bunch, nor does it have any special features of note to make it stand out from the crowd. Could the paytable be enough to stop this machine from sinking into mediocrity? Let’s find out…

Unsurprisingly, the wolf is the highest-paying symbol on the paytable and has a payout of 50x the total bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The bald eagle is next, awarding 7.5x the player’s stake for all six symbols, followed by the tiger and bear at 2x apiece. That’s the lot as far as the high-paying symbols are concerned – the remainder of the paytable consists of five royals with returns ranging between 0.9x and 1.8x the total stake for a six of a kind combination. All symbols do at least appear in stacks, which makes it much more likely that you will win on a large number of pay ways simultaneously.

The minimum/maximum bets available in Wolf Blaze Megaways are set at €0.10 and €20.00 per spin, respectively, and I’m pleased to say that there are plenty of other bets available between the two limits as well. So whatever the size of your bankroll when entering this machine, there will be a stake relative to it that you’ll be comfortable playing at.

Base Game & Modifiers

Wolf Blaze Megaways Slot Base Game
Wolf Blaze Megaways slot base game

The base game of Wolf Blaze Megaways features six reels plus an additional horizontal reel that is displayed above reels two through five. The first and last reels can divide into between two and seven rows on each spin, whilst the middle four reels are limited to six rows. The highest-paying wolf symbol will award a prize for just two symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left, whilst all other symbols require at least three matches to form a winning combination.

Jackpot Pick Game

All wilds that land on the reels will be collected towards a jackpot pick game trigger with every spin. Jackpots can be won in both the base game and during free spins. Unfortunately, there is no on-screen indicator to let you know when you are close to filling the jackpot meter, but once you do, the pick game will be triggered.

Twelve golden coins are displayed on the screen, three for each of the four jackpot prizes. Each coin that you select will reveal one of the following prizes:

  • MEGA: 1,000x bet
  • MAJOR: 20x bet
  • MINOR: 10x bet
  • MINI: 3x bet

After revealing three matching coins, the corresponding prize will be added to your bankroll, and the feature will end.

Wolf Blaze Megaways Slot Bonus Features

When four or more bonus scatters land simultaneously, the free spins bonus round will be awarded. A four-scatter trigger will award 12 free spins plus five additional spins for each extra scatter symbol.

Free Spins

The free spins feature offers an increasing multiplier feature that will increment by 1x each time a winning combination is removed from the playfield. The current round multiplier can increase indefinitely as long as the bonus round is active, and you can win 5 of 10 additional free spins by hitting three or four scatter symbols, respectively. The jackpot pick game can also be won whilst the free spins feature is active.

Wolf Blaze Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts

Judged entirely on its own merits, I would undoubtedly be giving this game a resounding thumbs up – it’s a fun machine with plenty of big win potential. The only trouble is, we’ve seen all this dozens of times before.
