There’s not much to say about the theme of Wolf Gold Ultimate, as it’s your typical American Midwest animal slot, with no story and just wide-open rocky landscapes as the backdrop and glorious beasts as the symbols. While that’s nothing special, Wolf Gold did inspire similar releases from other developers down the years. Blueprint Gaming’s Wolf Legend has a similar theme and look, while Booming Games’ Howling Wolves Megaways is another popular title in the genre.
The payouts on Wolf Gold Ultimate have not changed from the original, with The Wolf Wild and the Buffalo sharing the top spot with a 20x the stake return when either line up 5 times across a payline. The Eagle has a top prize of 16x, the Horse nets you up to 12x, and the Mountain Lion has a top return of 8x. Each of the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack pays up to 2x the stake for five-symbol combinations.

The fact that this is a follow-up to the iconic Wolf Gold slot will ensure that players give it a try. But I cannot help but feel disappointed with what Pragmatic Play has done with Wolf Gold Ultimate. They’ve removed the free spins bonus game with Giant symbols on every spin in return for a slightly modified Hold & Win game that is still fairly basic at its core. I’d have preferred they got rid of that bonus and boosted the free spins bonus. Aside from that change, the slot looks and plays pretty similar to the original, so it's hardly an ultimate upgrade, in my opinion.
