Arabian Nights is a commonly used English title for the famous Middle-Eastern folk tale collection known as ‘One Thousand and One Nights’. The tales were originally written in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age and have been the subject of countless works of fiction during the centuries since. Jasmine Dreams by Pragmatic Play is just the latest addition to this collection, a 20-payline online slot machine with a 96.48% return-to-player (RTP) percentage. The developer claims this to be a super high-volatility slot, which feels a tad strange considering its low maximum win cap of just 2,500x the total bet.
There are a few other anomalies at play here though, which may go a long way towards explaining this strange juxtaposition of statements and statistics. For a start, Pragmatic has decided to treat us to the rare treat of a huge 600x payout for five scatter symbols – not something we see every day in the modern online slot industry. The main bonus round is also relatively unique in that it features stacked wild symbols that can cause a sequence of free re-spins, the end result of which could be a full bonus round of six 4x multiplier free spins with reels two, three, and four filled with stacked wilds. Surprisingly for a Pragmatic Play release, there are no bonus bet or bonus buy facilities available here – perhaps they will be added to an international update in the future?
This machine may not have the largest jackpot by Pragmatic Play’s standards, but the unique feature set is interesting enough to ensure that I’ll certainly be looking forward to playing it for real money as soon as possible! Jasmine Dreams Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The tales of one thousand and one nights have featured in many previous slot releases. The 10,001 Nights slots are something of a tongue-in-cheek take on the formula, of course – the original wasn’t bad, for it was the Megaways variant that did it for me personally. Ali Baba’s Luck was another great example, but again, the Power Reels version has to be the one to go for if you enjoy high-variance slots, as I do! I’d say that Jasmine Dreams looks better than all of these previous releases, but the low maximum win does let it down considerably. No matter how great a feature might be, it’s no use if you are going to have half of your winnings confiscated because of an over-zealous winnings cap!
The Shah (the blue character) is the most valuable to feature on the paytable here, with a return of 30x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. The treasure chest is worth 20x for all five symbols, while the huge ruby-encrusted ring is worth 10x when all five appear on a complete payline. The pair of swords share the same 10x return for all five symbols, completing the high-paying symbol line-up. The lower half of the table consists of four royals – the ace and king will each pay you 5x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination, whilst the queen and jack are a little less valuable at 2x each. Special mention must be made for the scatters, too – these are worth 600x, 100x, 40x, or 5x for five, four, three, or two symbols anywhere on the reels.
We’re all familiar with Pragmatic Play’s excellent wager selection system by now – you can choose to play from a minimum of €0.20 up to a maximum of €100. As always, there are countless options between these amounts, so you’ll easily be able to find a stake you are comfortable spinning at.
Base Game & Modifiers
Immediately after loading Jasmine Dreams, you’ll be faced with a familiar five reel, three row video slot layout. The 20-fixed paylines are plenty sufficient for a standard layout such as this. They strike a nice balance between making winning lines extremely rare or so common that the prizes aren’t anything worth getting excited about.
Expanding Wilds
Belly dancer stacked wilds appear on reels two, three, and four. During the base game, these symbols are not guaranteed to cover all possible positions; however, things work slightly differently in the bonus round! See below for details.

Bonus scatter symbols appear on all five reels; however, only three are required to trigger six free spins. Thankfully, a cash premium is paid if your triggering combination does consist of more than three scatter symbols – see the paytable section above for details.
Free Spins
During any free spin where a stacked wild symbol lands on reels two, three, or four, a global 1x multiplier is applied to all wins that result from the current round. However, if the wild happens to cover all three possible positions, this multiplier is increased to 2x instead.
If two full-height stacked wilds land during a single spin, the multiplier is further increased to 3x, whereas all three possible full-height stacked wilds will bump this multiplier up even further to 4x.
If a wild symbol happens to land without all three possible segments being visible, the game will award a free re-spin, and the wild will move up or down by one position automatically, and this process will repeat until all wild symbols are covering all possible positions – therefore guaranteeing the maximum 4x multiplier!

This should be another huge win for Pragmatic Play in certain regions, but for the second time in less than a fortnight, I have to mark one of their games down for a completely unnecessary flaw – why is the win cap so low? Come on, Pragmatic Play, you’ve been on a roll recently, don’t stop now!
