Pirots 3 (Elk Studios) Slot Demo & Review

Those pesky Pirots are back, and I, for one, am thrilled about it. You see, Pirots 1 and 2 are among the studio’s most popular games, which is saying something considering the quality Elk Studios perpetually delivers. What stands out with this series and titles such as Dam Beavers is the innovative Collection Pays mechanic and the many modifiers it can trigger. I’m sure we’ll get more of the same from this latest release, but hopefully, with a few more additions to keep things fresh. So, let’s get on with the review of Pirots 3, a 6×7 reel slot with a 10,000x max win and a 94% RTP.

As mentioned, there are a lot of similarities between Pirots 3 and the previous two releases. The Pirots drop onto the reels, collect up symbols of the same colour, and fill a meter above the reels. The benefit of doing that is the lining up of pending feature symbols that, once released, can cause a ton of mayhem on the reels. They’ll throw random feature symbols onto the reels, which, once collected, do one of eight different things. That mechanic alone is impressive, but then throw in bonus features such as a Coin Bonus, Showdown feature, and a Train Heist, and you’re in slot feature heaven. I haven’t even mentioned the main bonus game and the return of X-iter yet, but it’s better you just read on at this point to learn each of the above on a one-by-one basis.

With many features and modifiers to explore, the best way to familiarise yourself with this game is to play our free Pirots 3 slot demo, which you can try below.

With so many features to sum up, I couldn’t even get into the theme of Pirots and Pirots 2, let alone that of Pirots 3. Okay, to recap, The Pirots are Parrots that are Pirates – I bet you can’t say that over and over quickly! Although they’re Pirates, they’re now in the Wild West, which is slightly safer than the Dinosaur-infested location they found themselves in on the Pirots 2 slot. I’m still determining how they get to these places, but I sure bet they miss their original Pirate ship from the original release.

If you’ve played either of those, you’ll know what to expect concerning the symbols. There are no paylines and just four regular gems symbols that can hold payout levels ranging from 1 to 7 that correspond with their respective Pirot. As standard, the Red Gem symbol pays between 0.10x and 30x, the Purple Gem returns a value of 0.10x to 15x, followed by the Green Gem at 0.05x to 10x, and finally, the Blue Gem, paying 0.05x to 7.5x for each collected symbol.

Spinning the reels of the Pirots 3 slot requires a minimum bet of €0.20. If you prefer wagering more, you can choose from eleven additional staking options, up to a maximum of €100.00.

Pirots 3 Slot Base Game & Modifiers

The Collection Pays mechanic is back for Pirots 3, which means symbol combinations and payouts are created when one of the Pirot symbols lands next to a symbol of the same colour. The Pirot then moves through and collects that symbol and any others connected horizontally or vertically in its path. All collected symbols are replaced with random fresh ones that fall in from above. This latest instalment uses a 6×7 grid configuration, which is at least different from either of the previous two slots.

Locked Up Bandit

If released, the Bandit, locked in a bird cage to the left of the reels, moves around the playing area, collecting all gems and feature symbols in its path.

Collection Meter

Directly above the reels is a collection meter that fills up as symbols are collected during a spin. Only regular-paying gems and the wild symbols will count towards that meter once collected. Furthermore, the meter is locked whenever the bandit escape feature triggers.

Each time the meter is full, a pending symbol feature symbol is released and added. Up to three of these pending features can queue up, waiting to trigger simultaneously before the dynamite explodes. This can occur once the Pirots cannot collect any more symbols or as part of a free drop during the main bonus game.

Feature Symbols

  • Collected upgrade Symbols: upgrades any Gems of the same colour as the Pirot that collected it by between 1 and 3 levels up to a maximum of level 7. Each new level increases the payout value of those symbols.
  • Collected upgrade All: This increases the levels of all gems by between 1 and 3 up to a maximum of 7.
  • Key: This will activate the Locked-Up Bandit feature and can collect gems and other symbols. The Bandit will even duel with Pirots in its path, and if it manages to beat all four, the Bandit Coin Bonus is triggered.
  • Transform Symbol: If this symbol is collected from the grid, it transforms a bunch of gems into the same colour as the Pirot that collected it. The Transofrm can also turn gems into feature symbols.
  • Peanut Symbol: When collected by a Pirot, it fills empty grid spaces, allowing them to cross empty spaces to reach new clusters of winning symbols.
  • Dynamite: These explode if a Pirot collects them or they run out of symbols to collect. The explosion clears a random number of symbols from the gridding, causing a re-drop. It also expands the reels to an 8×7 configuration.
  • Wild: These substitute for all gem symbols.
  • Coin: This symbol can hold values of up to 100x the current stake, and you’re paid that value if it’s collected.

Coin Bonus

The Coin Bonus starts if a spin results in all symbols on the grid getting collected. Before it begins, Coins Bags and Scorpions drop into the positions on the reels. A train delivers either the Pirots or the Bandit, and either will try to collect as many coin bags as possible with their lassos. The bonus ends once a Scoprion symbol is collected by mistake.

Showdown

When Pirots find themselves in adjacent positions on the grid, one of two things can happen. They can give each other the thumbs up and switch positions to potentially collect more symbols. Alternatively, they can get into a gunfight, resulting in bullets flying across the grid. Symbols hit in the crossfire react differently depending on what symbol they are. Scatters, Keys and Coins are collected, Gems are removed, and Dynamite, understandably, explodes.

Train Heist

Underneath positions in the central placements on the left and right of the grid are train backdrops. There’s one on each side, and if a Pirot is able to collect the symbols on top of both during a spin, the Train Heist feature triggers. The Pirot jumps on a train and is carried around the reels as he drops between 1 and 3 random feature symbols. The Pirot then jumps off the train on the opposite side from where it was picked up and can potentially start collecting symbols again.

Pirots 3 Slot Bonus Features

There are two variations of the main bonus game on Pirots 3, but the upgraded version is only available via the X-iter buy bonus options. The regular game triggers once the Pirots collect three bonus scatter symbols on a single spin.

Free Spins Feature

You receive 5 free spins with the symbol collection meter now persistent between spins. Furthermore, you’ll receive an additional spin each time the Pirots collect a bonus scatter symbol. If the super free spins are bought, the feature plays out over an extended 8×7 reel configuration.

X-iter Bonus Buy

You can purchase five bonus buy options of Pirots 3:

  • Bonus Hunt: For 3x your current spin bet, you can purchase a single spin with four times the chance of triggering the bonus game.
  • Bandit Jailbreak: For 25x, you get a spin in which the bandit is guaranteed to escape.
  • Coin Game: 50x buys you into the Coin Bonus.
  • Bonus Game: For 100x, you trigger the bonus game.
  • Super Bonus Game: For a whopping 500x, you receive the upgraded bonus on an 8×7 grid configuration.

Pros

  • More chaos and fun via a ton of features.
  • Themed on an already very popular series.

Cons

  • It's not too much of an advancement over previous releases.
  • Low RTP.

Pirots 3 Slot Review Final Thoughts

There's not much to say here except that Pirots 3 is more of the same, but with even more modifiers and bonus features to trigger. Essentially, if you enjoyed the previous two, you’ll love this, while those not in favour of them are unlikely to enjoy what they see here. For me, the slot provided me with heaps of entertainment, even if I wasn't even sure what was going on half the time!
